Haven't we been working on 100% controlled fusion too right now and in fact for many many decades. Hmm, I wonder how much of that work is farmed out to India since the cost there is much much less.
They are in early development. Too soon to say how they will turn out or if they will get canceled or not. GM has invested big money and time in it so I really believe these vehicles will see production. I can’t say more than that obviously. There’s a very early AV in the Henry Ford Museum. We have come a LONG way from it but it’s very interesting if you get the chance to check it out.
Are the AVs you're working on any better than the ones we see on the streets from Cruise, Waymo, etc.?

I work in engineering. We are 100% still working on multiple autonomous vehicles right now. GM may have shut down Cruise but it's still committed to autonomous and electric vehicles.

Tesla is a stock scam. It is worth 4x more than Toyota
but sells 1/10 of the cars.

Oh my, who could have seen it coming? I am absolutely flabbergasted that we couldn't make money on AV and EV in this cycle. I mean the talking heads said it was the future.

Answer: They don't ask for permission, they do, whether it makes sense or not. When sh*t fails, they claim ignorance. That's your tell.
Except they had already burned billions by the time they figured it out.
If the SLT was smarter they would have cut their losses years ago.

The culture of hatred you describe is unfortunately very common at GM and has been for quite some time. Imo this will contribute to their (second) undoing. Too many folks focus on how bad they can make someone else look rather than just working on their own tasks.

I don't use the word "toxic" much but I would describe my time there as something like the Stanford Prison Experiment
I've never seen people treated so poorly
I had four different managers in a year. They all started off nice, then they were dragged into he-l by their managers and turned into monsters
I knew they would never succeed, too much literal hatred in the air
They are experts in word salads, elitism, and woke terminology. Not so much in engineering acumen.
I told GM not buying it in 2016. However, nobody listened to me. A hard lesson!
I had the unfortunate experience of being involved with this autonomous BS. The only thing that the people in San Francisco wanted was GM’s money. When we tried to help out technically with actual vehicle dynamics knowledge we were rebuffed. In the end the majority of GM people who worked on that program had their careers significantly altered, cut short or ruined. I’m surprised that GM took this long to realize that the whole idea is a pipe dream. Thanks MB for wasting so much money, time and energy on this particular wind mill and good riddance to Cruise and its cast of arrogant id--ts.
If you ever dealt with the people there, their egos were way bigger than their talents.
They thought they were hot, but didn't know what they were doing.
