About Remote work at the end of the townhall meeting

Someone asked about the in office requirement and the CIO talked about some absolute nonsense and then he opened up about remote work saying that it did not contribute during pandemic which is a bold faced lie and literally the worst response. This shows that he is a arrogrant person who doesn't care about the well being of the employees or in this case "Truist doesnt care" and it seems to be a sign that things are only going downhill from here.

Pleb here. I would be ok with the RTO policy if it was across the board. But the rules are not equal. Some managers follow the badge swiping to the letter of the law, while others don't care. It's extremely appalling to come in and see a sea of empty desks cause their manager is way more flexible. It's a kick to gut to those being micro managed. It also creates bitterness and anger. And yes, before you down vote me I'm one of those unfortunate teammates who has to drive in while half my teammates are full time WFH or have special flexibility. I.e. some with kids get to leave early while others without kids are not afforded the same luxury. Explain that.

@5hsn, mods usually don't care if someone's post is truthful or not, especially on rumor platforms like this one. What they do care about is whether the ToS is being violated. That said, here are some tips for avoiding your post getting deleted from social media platforms:

Follow standard netiquette (avoid f-bombs, racism, threats, etc.).
Avoid derogatory comments aimed at people - base your criticism on their actions.

The truth is the new CIO has to follow by the rules set by Billy Boy. He can’t think on his own. The whole reason for this back to office setting is for attrition purposes. Payroll is still too heavy and there are more cuts needed. Nothing to do with collaboration in office, all about teammates resigning on their own to reduce payroll and head counts.
But we will make this a great place to work. Even in there are only 2 people left at the bank.

The interim-CTO lady talked proudly about "grit" and was proud of the 20-hour work days that a lot of CTO teammates are pulling. She also said that it is going to be a norm. what a joke. instead of solving for work-life balance, she is happy about how burnt out her team is.

Remote or in office are both fine, they just pay me the same to do way less work in the office. It's a pretty consistent 40% drop for the extended peer group so we're all now just exactly hitting goal instead of exceeding (funny how everyone suddenly slowed to exactly the goal) . So Truist is getting what they're paying for a not a bit more. Seems fair.

Just to add, he also implied that remote work contributed to (or caused?) the massive ethical & legal issues at Wells. Ridiculous on so many levels, for example: The areas in Wells that had those issues were not work from home and its well known that those issues were perpetrated by those at the top to further enrich themselves (they were in their nice private offices everyday - def not remote lol). It was a failure of leadership, not of remote workers or remote work culture.

B & B have made it very clear they don’t like remote work, unless it benefits them directly (like their fully remote executive hires); we peons don’t matter and must be monitored and badge tracked and threatened with bad reviews if we do not comply even if our work is top notch and never missed a deadline… got to get that badge swipe or else.

That dipsh-t started his whole intro off by rubbing a trip to Hawaii in the face of a workforce who hasn't had a decent raise or bonus in three years, what do you expect? And he clearly doesn't know anything about system design if every solution to him starts with cloud and not what is the problem and how do we best solve it.

Their is a huge disparity in REL when it comes to RTO verses Tele-commuters. For instance, the entire UW and processing team are entitled to WFH while a small group is forced into the office for badge swipe monitoring purposes only. It's a huge morale issue and leadership glazes over it and when questions are brought up in a town hall, leadership outright ignores the anonymous questions and/or sends a message to the RTO teammates that they should be happy to have a job and shut the F up. Never seen an environment like this in over 30 years in corp America.
