What happens to the differed compensation if
I’ve stopped contributing to SERPLUS due to the risk of bankruptcy
It is a general obligation of the Intel Corp. Bankruptcy would discharge it and you would be out of luck. The courts would most not likely look to kindly on it being an executive compensation plan. A sale of Intel would not discharge it it, but in a break up it could have some manipulation to get it into a organization that could not cover the costs and in turn go bankrupt. Very blurry on how Intel debt would get divided on a break up. But clearly companies try this sh*t all the time. Same could said for stock plans and SERMA.
It was actually a reason why I left Intel so I could start withdrawing it. Always get the money up front.
Deferred ...
They tell you that upfront. It’s no secret. It’s at risk!
Gone
Can go anyway ! It depends on how the contract gets written
I don't feel sorry for those that put into SERP+ one bit. You had to be at least a G10 and you were using to reduce your taxable earnings for the year you invested. You knew it was at risk and would just rather not pay taxes.
What is it
Its will be gone you were explained the risks
A - get in line with everyone else. my guess is it would be wiped out. was never a guaranteed benefit and folks never should've assumed it would be there forever.
B - who knows. depends upon the deal.
C - who knows. depends upon the deal. my guess is it would take a serious haircut.
i was always d-mbfounded by employees that poured money into serp+ assuming it would be there. it was never ever more than a 'promise' intel would pay. that's it.
