Another way to look at his post is that PG actually knows the state of the company. Asking for people to pray for the remaining employees is a good sign that thing are much worse then you probably think. My guess is that for the past year or more he was an impedance to the BoD on the actions that they wanted to take. Now there is nothing to stop them from taking the necessary actions to right the company. Assuming Intel is now in the 90-95k range for employees after the last round of layoffs you can expect to see more action to further reduce this number to around 60k. Layoffs won't be the only method to achieve this goal.
