Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Start looking for another job if you haven’t already

As soon as I did, I stopped caring about losing a job. Daily pressures no longer affect me as much as before. We get so wrapped up in toxicity and abuse here that we often forget that we actually have options.

"There are companies who have a policy not to hire those who have been employed at UHG"

Well said for someone who's obviously not worked in the corporate environment too long. ALL large businesses in the US are ineffectual and toxic. Imagine the absurdity of being a Fortune 500 company and refusing to interview based on the fact the potential new hire was "tainted" with the stink of having experience in the corporate world.

Here a bit of feedback. I bet a lot of people don’t know that working for UHG is considered a toxic environment. There are companies who have a policy not to hire those who have been employed at UHG because as one hiring person said, “ their employees don’t accept change, these employees are use to a toxic environment and they bring that toxic enviroment with them. They are use to being brow beaten, cannot express themselves due to they have to always be politically correct and su-king up to leadership so the employee never grows, always agrees with leadership, has no new ideas and they tend to bring down or destroy morale . So we don’t hire anyone from that company or its subsidiaries especially if the person has been there for years .

I worked for this company for 25 years and I was laid off last Oct it took me 8 months to get another job. This was one of the hardest things I've been through. Looking for jobs, updating my resume, applying for jobs, getting 100s of emails saying you dont qualify, then I would get lucky and get interviews only to be told a month later sorry we are going with someone else. It was horrible not knowing if I would have enough money for food or keep my power on. Yes in the end it did work out. I have a better job now making more money but it was a struggle.

I'd like to stay on the safe side and NEVER stop networking/looking for a job but sometimes I like to take a couple months away from the grind and smoke some (legal) herb here and there. I don't get how, in this day and age, that would make me fail a dr-g test, but here we still are. Perpetual job hunting is my personal her and is also unfortunately a necessity in the age of widespread layoffs and outsourcing.
