Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Has the job market been getting any better?

I’ve been trying to find another job for half a year now. It’s been a depressing experience, to say the least. Now I’m hearing from people that things have improved, but I don’t see any difference. It may be subjective. Anyone seeing any improvement whatsoever lately? I don’t need to leave Intel right now, and have dodged the bullet so far, but it would be a huge relief to know that there are other options more readily available.

Keep applying, make sure your applications are targeted for each posting. I am seeing maybe 2-3 replies off every 100 applications or so. Still no offers.

I've seen multiple folks on LinkedIn announce new jobs since the voluntary leave date

This is the normal.

The crazy days of 2021 when anyone with a pulse was hired was the anomaly that will probably never return, at least in our lifetimes.

I spoke with a recruiter to get resumes for a CW gig (yes, approved) and they mentioned there is quite a few openings on the contract side.

I don't think the market is as bad as folks assume, at least for generalists engineers. Specialized, probably.

Not for former Intel employees. Now one wants to hire us. Remove it from your resume and see what happens

If you want a next gig you damn well better specialize in an up-and-coming area of need. Intel on the resume will get you a one-way ticket to the round file.

The best way to know for sure is to try interviewing.
