Joke. Value generated from that silly engagement survey wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on. That paper would have far more value as toilet tissue.
It would take so long to return the results, most people couldn’t remember when it was actually taken. Let alone the questions asked 😂.
But once we did receive results- months later- management was ready to tackle. Going back 10+ years ago- we’d ALWAYS have the large BU-wide follow up meeting. Then subsequent location and function breakout sessions. Leadership would feverishly take notes claiming the pain points would be addressed. Gradually the topic would fade away until forgotten. ZERO action taken.
Year after year. Survey after survey. Same questions, no action. That is pretty much a microcosm for most of Cargill- inept leadership, of which are polished fabulous orators, but don’t have the skillset to drive any meaningful change or results.
Cargill was a great place to be a mid-level manager and higher up- for decades. Lots of great dinners, golf, senseless travel and meetings with people crossing the globe just to accumulate miles and points. Majority of these were internal, with little customer focus. Minus the “top to tops” which 12 people felt the need to fly on the corporate jet to Omaha to blow smoke at ConAgra and boast how the world revolves around Cargill.
There were certainly some gifted leaders, but surrounded by so much pork. Unfortunately pretty much the same today. No more engagement survey needed.
