Punishing high performers

It’s baffling how top employees are constantly burdened with extra tasks, as if doing great work means they can handle much more. Meanwhile, those who constantly underperform always get a free pass. It’s risky and unsustainable. Is this really the Broadcom way?

If the azzclowns at McKenzie were used to determine cuts it explains much. It’s one of the most politically driven groups out there pushing agendas. What were they trying to do here? We will find out in a year or two and you can bet your life savings that it wasn’t good.

40k to 4k employees

Let that sink in.

The Broadcom way is to do the bare minimum with the least amount of people they can get away with until something breaks. Then and only then respond with a half-baked plan to resolve what’s broke and throw some poor su---r/s under the bus. Look at every prior company that has been acquired for the pattern . It’s always the same.

What is VCF today. Sh-t. What was VCF 5 years back. Sh-t. What will VCF be in 5 years. Sh-t. Don't worry. If we can keep the militarys and the governments as customers, then we can all make some dough for a few more years.

First round was done by McKenzie the consultant to the deep state. They probably used some AI and spread sheets. High level: Public Cloud bad. Private Cloud good. We need private cloud for military and sovereign clouds.

Next round is H1 and visa status. Doesn't matter what the person does or knows or whatever.

Next round is RTO status. Doesn't matter what the person does or knows or whatever.

Next rounds will be pure AI from McKenzie again.

Rinse and repeat till the cows come home or ends up in bankruptcy.

Dell and Silverlake pulled cash from their companies. Broadcom/VMware merger and loaded up Broadcom with debt.

Su-k up to the right people. It will always help. Now more than ever. That is all that matters. One SKU means that no one know what the fu-k is going on.

The pyramid is inverted. Very few people who do any work on product in "engineering". Just a lot of marketing, infra, prgm mgmt and random functions left in "engineering". A lot of fluff that have survived the cuts because of being at the right place in the org.

Yes. That is exactly what is happening at the former VMware. It is the same as what happened with CA and Symantec. More and more work beyond scope and hours is being asked of the those that have survived layoff after layoff. It is not surprising that significant top-talent has been lost since the acquisition. Much of what now remains is not the top talent but yes-men that will blindly do whatever management asks regardless of how illogical or detrimental it is to the employees, customers, partners, and the organization. More senior management by the way has been protecting itself by scapegoating workers through each round of layoffs. That means there are still many layers of managers before you get to the actual workers that will eventually be shed in coming quarters. It's worth mentioning too that RTO has backfired with top-talent leaving and top talent being let go going to work for the competition. As it's been said by many other posters, Broadcom will bleed every cent from employees, customers, and partners because it does not intend on investing or inventing, just taking profit until they move on to the next acquisition.
