Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Don't train your replacement

I remember when one of my coworkers trained a guy just before being laid off, only to have that same guy take his job. Recently, I was asked to do the same thing. I tried to say I was too busy, but no one cared. So, I’m showing him just the basics. If he’s my replacement, he’ll have to figure out the rest. If not, well, good luck.

Not like UHG is attracting good talent when it's hiring from degree mills and bootcamps with terrible pay and compensation. Don't worry, your replacement will not do jack sh-t.

No one should be loyal to this company as the company is not loyal to you and no one should be training possible replacements. It is dishonest and disrespectful for a manager to ask an employee to covertly train their replacement. If you are going to fire someone do it with integrity. Do not let this behavior be normalized.

Company stopped investing in us a long time ago. Can’t remember last time I had any sit down training. Expectation is that I figure out stuff while doing. I expect others to do the same. My time is spent on honing my craft and making me marketable not someone else. If someone picks up while watching, good for them. Company loyalty is on the past, we are our own brand now.
