I would rather be a vice president in a low performing company making tons of money than a clerk in a high-performing company.
Yes, the stock price is not the fault of the low performers. But it is also not the reason you can’t get promoted. Have a hard look at yourself. Maybe you are the historically low performer.
Oxy trading at $48 today. That's not due to the low performing staff. Have a hard look at your executive, their goals and performance metrics and see if they translate down to the line staff.
Oxy's as a company is historically a low performer. Nature will take care of you sooner than later.

It's who you know not what you know. Seen many who have not made money for the company get promoted. Being a friend of "(fill in the blank).".. is a big problem.
Also seen where looks come into play. Usually a young, tall, fit male with a dash of confident arrogance goes along way to overcoming their obvious lack of experience. Don't believe me?.. look in the corner offices next week and see who sits behind the desks.
Oxy has become toxic, due to the nepotism and cronyism that has promoted incompetence into leadership. The lack of critical thinking and innovation is apparent across the company leadership.

I thought that if this t^*d got cheap enough one of the majors would put you out of your misery. What I didn't think about is that Oxy is so bad that it is not worth the risk. With no momentum, you will eventually sink under your weight... Layoffs after Christmas are always a treat. Happy Holidays.
With stock price in the 40’s hopefully they don’t have a fancy expensive holiday party.
It is logical to conclude that the low stock price and lack of performance is due to the capital being misdirected to carbon capture. The company should complete the current plant and then shut down expansion of this plan.
I think a stock price in the $40's and nothing material to show for the last five years except debt is nature's way of saying stay away from this t^#d.... Want a financial tip...Buy Nvidia.
Possibly the low stock price now means it’s a good time to buy, so it can be sold later at a higher price. Personal financial planning stuff. Alternatively, maybe the low stock price now means it’s a good time to sell and take a capital loss. Again, personal financial planning stuff. If you don’t like the prospect of holding Oxy long term, then sell and take loss to offset the gains you’ve made on all of your other overperforming stock picks.

Anyone who works for an oil company for 40 years and who doesn’t have a good retirement did not manage their money properly. Whether you are making 75k per year of 1 million per year you should have enough to manage retirement within your means. A lot of people want to live beyond their means rather than staying in their financial lane. Oh, by the way the secret to retirement is having the 401k plus a bunch of after tax money saved and then spending only for what you need and not what you want. Keep in mind that the last few years of life may drain every last cent you have just to stay alive. But by all means stay away from the Long Term Care Insurance. What a ripoff.
Anyone who thinks happy thoughts will pay the bills is delusional. Work for many is a 40 year "phase"... Make the most of it.
Merry Christmas all. In the long run bonuses and stock price don’t matter at all. If you live a long life your career will not even be the focus of your obituary. It will all be about family, friends, and community. So have a great time enjoying your work life but treat it as just a phase.
Bonuses will be high for employees and executives this year. We have not seen any correlation between corporate performance and employee bonuses since SC left the company. He was a good man and was always looking out for the shareholders.
And employees post here about when and how much their annual bonus will be... Should be zero bonus for the Executive and a merit based award to the employees... Perhaps they should feel the same twang the shareholders feel holding this t^*d.
