Now that we’ve fired all the remotes can we please remove this cr-p from our computers so we can actually serve our clients without a 10-15 second delay per click, so embarrassing and unprofessional when trying to present ! Time is $ and we are wasting so much time with slow processing speeds with multiple systems down regularly. Especially now that we are required to take on extra jobs of those who were RIF’d. We are a tech company who doesn’t use the latest tech!

Remote person here. Ditto on what the other remote folks said. I start/end my day before anyone on my team. I haven't left my house during office hours for years.
Remote person here. I'm truly sorry you have that 15 second delay. I also hope you don't end up in our position where we worry every single day if we will have a meeting scheduled to tell us we've been let go and have to worry about taking care of our families, literal anxiety about feeding them and putting a roof over their heads. Either way, I wish you good luck on your future presentations!
Look I am in IT and many roles in IT especially work great remotely - especially for people who live in one region of the country and are experts in a technology. In my experience IT people stay on Instant Messaging and know they have to be available, but often do a A LOT of independent work and off hours and weekends.
Where it became intolerable is like with not IT in govt agencies NO ONE IS EVERY AVAILABLE to the customers/citizens. NO ONE answers phones - if the organization would properly forward calls and have a way to get to someone else when the original person does not respond, it would be a huge improvement.
I have not heard back from MANY messages at many govt agencies. And that is just the ones that there was a way to send a message to!
I am remote and do two peoples jobs. I understand that there is a dislike for us but please know not all of us slack or even remote by choice. We are stressed just like everyone else. The assumption upper management has that my 5 minute bathroom break was me doing laundry is wild. I can assure them I don't need babysat and haven't for 20 years. If I was slacking I promise my house would be way cleaner.
