The contract I signed was for 8 hours a day. When we fill in timesheet, we bill for 8 hours a day. How is asking us to do 9 hours a day even legal?

why not consider early morning, late nights 1-2hrs meetings attending from home not considered as work for these org?
some empathy with the employees and family?
I will continue to do my job and put in eight hours in the office. Demanding nine hours, hour lunch, inside the office is not going to happen. Should fi decide we parts ways over this then so be it.
If you’re an exempt employee, it’s legal. If you are exempt and don’t know that, you’re an id--t and should probably seek a position in the fast food or housekeeping industries.
Before joining, told I don't have to come in early and office hours is flexible.
Now I have to be in the office 9 hours for my pay rate and be in to work with people across Earth for common hours at 6 to 6:30. 100% bait and switch. Should be illegal when they make you move to accept a job.
@pjo+1vQBtWEB Do you have a real human job... or are you a monkey?
They ask way more when considering sapience and the nature of "Knowledge Work". Who just sits and types?
8 hours of work with a 1 hour lunch. I worked for the govt and it was the same thing. They expect 8 hours of actual work. Not rocket science.
It’s 9 hour total with 1 hour lunch
@dst+1vQBtWEB But wouldn't that contract change/violation apply to people that were hired remotely too then told they had to move 2,000 miles to report to an office or lose their job?
Two points:
They're not asking, they're demanding 45hrs per week.
It's not illegal to demand 45hrs per week. Technically US law allows for a company to demand 24/7 work, as crazy as that sounds. While it's not illegal, it doesn't stop that demand from being a unilateral contract change and therfore a possible contract violation.
I know 9 hours a day is legal, but as far as contracts go, plenty of us were hired as remote only, then others were told 3 days in office and now it's 4 and 5. So obviously they don't mean anything.
Idk but my salary agreement is based off 40 hours.
Sorry, how is it legal? I don’t understand this. If you’ve got a contract for X, how can they ask for Y?
Is it legal? yes.
Do our labor laws su-k? yes.
