Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Broadcom will not only have 500 Customers.

https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2024/12/new-broadcom-sales-plan-may-be-insignificant-in-deterring-vmware-migrations/

.....
Broadcom will no longer take VMware's biggest 2,000 customers directly. Instead, it will work with VMware's 500 biggest customers, giving channel partners the opportunity to participate in deals and provide additional value for VMware customers. The reversal is being viewed as an effort from Broadcom to discourage migrations from VMware, but there's skepticism around how much impact it will truly have.

500K is mostly workstation and fusion, plus essential plus.
Actual internal count was far less

The writings on the wall for internal employees but good opportunity for partners to manage the rest. Expect more signifcant RIFs through 2025 with just 500 customers being taken care of globally thats not many per region. How many internal employees do they need to consult, feed and water those 500?

VMware has proved to be sticky with many customers sayoing they want to leave ASAP but found it hard and many have signed a 1yr renewals to give them runway to migrate off. I expect 2026 will be a defining year for VMware with a much smaller install base and 2027 even less.

500k to 500? That is 0.1%. How many employees are needed? Probably just the GM, Chief of staff and VeeePeees and Program managers to entertain them.
