Has anyone heard of layoffs going on across the organization? I know they sent out a video saying there would be layoffs, but I'm not sure if it has happened yet.

Hoho and new news now. P&F is going to be sold to Thermo Fisher... Why am I not surprised anymore
Why was this mentioned? High potential African American . DEI is illegal. There is no need to mention race. Work has nothing to do with race. There were many more white people let go, but nobody said this Christian White Male that was hard working was let go. There is no need to bring up race. DEI is illegal full stop.
Hey, except for this issue, I think Vivek is totally wrong on things. But he nailed it on the need to change culture. Let's stop glorifying rock stars, movie stars, grossly overpaid sports stars, etc., and start respecting the ones who actually drive our county's advancement - especially engineers, scientists, manufacturing workers, logistics people, supply chain (and more!). you know, the folks who invent things, build them, ship them.
We can only hope the outsource team has been affected. H1-B and offshoring is the biggest scam on America. It's nothing more than cheap, low quality labor causing these layoffs. Layoff boost the Analyst ratings, stock and favorable outlook for CEOs. Then they jump in right after the layoff to fill with cheap Indian, and Chinese scam labor.
They have fired high potential African American mid level managers.Dedicated high performing African American female that came over from 3M was chopped just one year away from being vested. This high potential and high performing female was axed because SOLVENTUM first overworked her by having her manage sixteen individuals globally.Upon approaching being vested in earned stock acquired from over seven years dedicated at 3M and two years at SOLVENTUM .SoLVENTUM suddenly terminated her position in a clandestine and inhumane way to avoid her earned vested benefits and coldly stymie her career growth .
Does anyone knows if the Solventum outsource team has been impacted with the layoff too? Just curious as I know many were moved over from 3M parentco as good friends.
Executive Management is sending two different messages. The one they give employees and one they give Management. They are two different and opposite messages. IMO there is an unspoken third message. That Solventum is a cash cow and will only be around until it's usefulness is gone.
All those "riffed" be grateful for the severance package and a chance to start new elsewhere. Those reading this that are still employed there, my advice is to find another place outside of Solventum. Good luck and God bless
I guess they stopped solving after all. (Too soon?)
Very sorry to those affected. Horrible way to end the year. I know the heartbreak that comes with it. I hope bigger and better things are in your immediate futures!
Medical here. I'm gone.
If you don't mind, what was the severance details? I've heard anywhere from one week per year of service to two weeks. I saw something else about a stipend? I'm just curious if there is any concrete numbers for those of us worried about future layoffs. I did see that the executive teams bolstered their severance packages which is cute.
I was told you have until Jan 5 to apply for any open positions. We are expected to work until that day to get severance but any PTO remaining for the year can be taken. I'm in HIS.
How many day Solventum allow your access to system so you can apply internal jobs? Do they still give 60days paid for jobs looking?
For those of you with RSUs/stock options. Did your severance package include those all vested, or none? Did severance include your yearly bonus.
This is just horrible to happen during the holidays. Hope everyone gets rehired somewhere quick and they paid you all what you earned/bonus/stock etc.
I am not the person who posted about the divisions that will be jettisoned, but I've heard that HIS has been affected the worst so far (this round), which leaves Med Surg, Dental and Purification. What worries me as a Solventum employee is the lack of direction from the CEO. He basically vanished after the IPO and now he is announcing massive layoffs without, again, a concrete vision. Seems like he is just there to manage selling of assets, while keeping the profitability stable as long as possible by just cutting costs.
Which 3 divisions have to be jettisoned? (Replying to the person who mentioned that.)
Many critical positions cut yesterday with those people dedicated to the April 1 deadline to be off of 3M systems. Meeting transition services agreement deadlines is now at serious risk. I believe Solventum has to pay financial penalties to 3M of those separation deadlines are missed. Those chances increased significantly yesterday.
I saw the video and had already received the "Important Business Meeting" last minute invitation from my boss and HR so was inevitable. With 3M I have dodged 7-8 rounds over the last 17 years (a lot more recently), but now in consultation for 30+ days as the company decides how they are going to flatten the management structure. I think this is the kick to finally move
Really sorry for those affected. This move seems to reinforce what we all have known since the spin was announced. It was never about creating two world class companies. For 3M, the spin was about cash and survival. Spinco was created solely to provide that cash. There are four divisions with zero synergies and if the intent is to create a medtech company, then three of those divisions will be jettisoned at some point and acquisitions will need to be made to add on to medsurge. I really wish I could be more positive, but the spin makes little sense for the healthcare businesses as they exist currently and will likely fail. Should have just called it what is was from the beginning - quick cash generation for 3M that was desperately needed. That is it. Everyone knows it, but it’s easier to convey that there’s a desire to create two companies that will be so great independently of each other . . . blah blah blah
So, you want grow a spinoff company with ‘Expert Executive Management’ from Healthcare MedTech companies (btw they are all buddies. They told me so!) and what do they do after a couple of earnings calls? Lay off thousands to shore up bottom line for 2025 because they don’t know what to do to actually grow the company. Yet to see a plan from them on where snd how they will grow. Any simple manager can do lay offs to shore up the bottom line, one doesn’t need million $ suits to do that. Also, I showed a blueprint on how we can grow incrementally by 2% without losing margin on a $4B business (I have done this before with multi billion $ businesses at 3M ParentCo). They didn’t want to understand it since they were closed to any ideas from former 3M employees. C’est la vie.
From reading it looks like a number of divisions are affected. I feel horrible for everyone getting the news. It's an awful, devaluing and discouraging sort of feeling.
I am one of the folks who got their 'pink slip' first thing this morning.
It su-ks because there is a project I've been working on to improve insights for decision makers that I really wanted to see fly.
I was at this company when it was KCI, but I was in R&D and clinical research at the time. I have been privileged to work with some amazing folks. I was privileged to be part of the core teams that launched Prevena and what became Ultavac.
I left and came back when the company went private and was rebranded as Acelity. My job was to do stats and ML work to answer the 'whys', 'what nexts', and 'how do we fix/improve/change' questions and embed the information into the decision making process. Unfortunately, priorities changed in a weird way and I ended up being put on data platform admin, linux admin, physical server admin, data engineering and other support instead.
That was a face slap where I almost left at that point, but wanted to be loyal to the team and the people who hired me (guess that's the military vet in me, but it was also a naive decision). I stayed optimistic that priorities would change again so I could get back to this much needed work. But I also knew that I was a loner with a skillset that did not align with the team itself. So I looked at lateral movement into other parts of the business, but nothing was available for this kind of work. Sadly, getting out of the 'Stapler's Basement' and onto projects like what my profession does came too late. I'm pretty rattled about that. Overall, I'm concerned for my family. I also have a pretty nasty health issue. But like everything, I'm taking it in stride the best I know how. And I've decided I'm going full metal jacket devoted to my own business.
For me, it's "Time to dust off, recalibrate, reload, and re-engage" (stole that from Jocko Willink's YouTube video 'Good').
Things may be scary now (and doing a startup is scary too!). But for anyone who has gone through corporate, government entity, or military service he-l before, THINGS WILL GET BETTER FOR YOU (seriously, watch the above video - you don't have to agree with all of Jocko's ethos, but this particular message, "Good" is very real and very relevant).
Look, the job market in technical areas is really rough right now. It's pretty rough in other areas too at the moment. Just know you still possess the fight in you to pull off your next win.
We will all learn, grow, and succeed from events like this. Keep your heads high, stay professional, stay close to friends and family (most important), create your mission, execute that mission, and leave this whole thing in the rear view mirror over the upcoming US holidays.
I did not get the call but wish I had. Solventum is a joke and not a company! Big time cluster over here. Wish I could have given up my space and taken 6 months off having been here for 24years
I was laid off from 3M a few years ago but my view was that I preferred knowing I would be let go before the holidays rather than after I had spent a lot of money on presents and tickets and parties. Makes for a not very happy holiday for sure, not denying that. Just my view.
Was notified today my position was gone. I did not receive the video email about the layoffs so I guess that’s the tell. 25 years.
I did not receive a video stating there would be layoffs but I was laid off this morning.
I can confirm they are happening. My husband was notified he was being laid off this morning. He is on health services.
Anyone know what divisions/functions are impacted? I agree with the person who said everyone is on pins and needles waiting to hear if we’re still employed. Sad that Solventum is following 3M’s tradition of laying people off just before the holidays.
sorry to hear that, which division were you?
I got laid off this morning. My manager told me not to tell any colleagues yet as they would be making other calls. So, I just logged off and currently job hunting. Good luck everyone affected! "Happy Holidays?"
Would have been nice if they let us know if the people affected have been notified yet or not. Now we will just sit here for a week wondering if we still have a job.
