Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Ghost Jobs

https://www.sfgate.com/tech/article/ghost-jobs-california-tech-industry-19871249.php
I've read several posters here asking about why so many jobs postings for CVS and another poster talking about their buddy being laid off and finding their LD posting their buddies exact job code. This is a good article that explains why these sh---y corporations do it.
article quote: "Navigating a worrying hiring trend. According to a 2024 survey from MyPerfectResume, 81% of recruiters admitted to posting ads for positions that were fake or already filled. While some respondents said employers did it to maintain a presence on job boards and build a talent pool, it’s also used to commit psychological warfare: 25% said ghost jobs helped companies gauge how replaceable their employees were, while 23% said it helped make the company appear more stable during a hiring freeze. Another damning 2024 report from Resume Builder said that 62% companies posted them specifically to make their employees feel replaceable. They also made ads to “trick overworked employees” into believing that more people would be brought on to alleviate their overwhelming workload. "

So it's officially a year since I gave my two weeks notice to Aetna, HP ABHLA newly LD Service Operations who took over my original hiring LD position after the 2023 layoffs.

There are many reasons why I gave my resignation enspite of making it over Aetna's layoffs finishing line. Primary reason due to my work ethics. At the end of the work day if I don't think I work with ethical people who's goals are to stay within regulations and improve data integrity to the BH program network, then my skills, experiences, and time is wasted. I am not a title seeker or LinkedIn hero who stays until the next title jump or to draw a paycheck. I have better things to spend my time.

Since then I've been working on certifications and courses through Coursera. Passively searching for the right position that would draw me back into working again. I search for positions with purpose 😀.

In all fairness I've only been applying to Aetna this past year because I have unfinished challenges with the Medicaid government sector that I want to see through. So, when I got this no longer under consideration letter after passing HRs vetting telephone call for R0417446 Senior Manager, Reporting & Insights - Network Medicaid Ops it was a bit disheartening as the HR person gave me glowing complements and said they would pass me onto the hiring LD for an interview.

So, it got me thinking after reading this article over this past year I think I've seen quit a few ghost positions. I know I certainly did for TX but that's understandable as they had to pull back from implementation. Following the contract bids is helpful in spoting possible ghost positions but all the same it's bad practice to send a rejection letter and not give the reason why they don't want you to go onto the next phase.

Good luck to the hiring LD as every one of the 17 Medicaid plans are QNXT configured differently and data integrity shot to he-l. I wonder how their reports will be any different than Medicaid IT reports.

@icf+1vOOLcUj, I am glad you are okay now. I still find it crazy not to take the retirement, I am intrigued.😉 It seems you care too 😊
I went back once before for a lesser title and salary after 2020 layoffs. But only because I wanted to learn about a certain department/ business. It was humbling to backslide in salary but I learned a lot from that experience.
It helped me in the next position to fully see the bigger picture.
I am not going to compromise my self worth, salary, career development, and mental health for just a paystub. If I do come back they will really have to give me a good sale for me to buy-in the cool aid. The right position, the right salary, the right team, fair bonuses, or my own team to develop.

I hope you get back on because I feel like you care. The difficulty in getting back on, is the HR algorithms and offshore HR. Best wishes. I got back on but I had to take a job I didn't really want and stay in it for a yr and post out. I was successful at doing that.

@qsy+1vOOLcUj, I feel you. It's especially vitole in Medicare, then and definitely now. Medicaid traditionally does well when the economy tanks or a hopefully once in a life pandemic. But I think it's going to be treading towards like a Medicare model unfortunately.
You are spot on one person alone can push back a tidal wave and save an entire sector of business alone. That's why I am hopeful with going back because those bad apples from the last three years ago are now gone. I also still have a network of people who's still in the good fight.
I've only experienced one Converty person who was getting paid twice as much as an Aetna employee. They had a year of training on our systems and still acted like it was their first day a year later.....
I hope all is well and worked out for the betterment of you.

It's such a healthy, fun environment with constant layoff threats, reorganizations, and small bonuses. Everyone wants to join!

I quit in 2016 after a promotion in Medicare department, at that time Aetna was offering early retirement and I could not get the support I needed to do the job, nevermind that I was working with Coventry leads that literally did not care or work. . I did not take early retirement I resigned. After I left the Stars rating dropped and stock tanked. I couldn't save Medicare all by myself, I had to save myself.

By law they can't be basis against those who have resigned and waited 12 months to apply nor can they by law be basis against those who were laidoff. There is a reason on the application they ask if you have been a former employee in the last twelve months for a reason. Troll....
I've resigned twice and laid-off 2020 and come back twice. When HR glows about your experience and tells you they're vetting you on for an interview they out to stick to there word or put reasons in there automation letters. The old days they did give the reason in the letter or a call back from HR ei "we lost funds for this position, sorry please keep reapplying", or during the HR vetting call after asking you the requirements questions if you didn't meet the requirements they would tell you right there on the call. So, troll got another punch to throw?

Maybe they don’t want to hire you because if you quit once you could do it again. Just a thought.

A year ago there was no position I would of wanted to transfer into. Every section of Aetna's government sector was in a sh-t hole or ran by mo--ns. I didn't want to transfer from one mo--n to another.
Through these new layoffs and reorg there's more hope to be in a good team in the government sector.
I also see the new challenges in healthcare since the elections. Aetna government sector will be a great challenge and I want to be apart of it.

At this point it's a personal challenge or maybe I want vindication.

I also have a personal emotional tie to Aetna and Medicaid. I use to be a MercyCare member who then went on to work at Aetna.

So, when they talk about members and sh-t I actually want to make a fu--ing difference. It drives me insane to see all the sh-t that goes on at Aetna.

I also know it's no different and greener pastures at other MCOs and private sector. That's why we constantly see roll overs like Brian Kane - Humana and this new President -UHC. In healthcare we swap people like it's a STD.

I also like what I do, if I didn't have a root-cause to research and solve for I would find it dull. I like the challenge.

Why would u quit and try to come back? That makes no sense at all. Would have been easier to try to transfer to another job.
