Thread regarding Cargill layoffs

ESOP (For NA employees)

Very sad to read these many posts from around the world. I guess I am glad to be dumping a lot of my retirement ESOP stock position in the current quarterly window. Very sad. Best of luck to all impacted - both departing and left behind to pick up the pieces!

The market does love a restructuring, if it was a public company. Unfortunately, Cargill will have to execute with results and not ride the sentiment of market opinion. S&P up about 7% last quarter while Cargill dropped almost 4.5%. I'll put my money elsewhere.

I hate to be the one to pass this on, but the market loves a restructuring/transformation. By all accounts you should see the stock price rise in the next valuation. You can check publicly traded companies over the past year that have announced layoffs (usually shortly followed by stock buybacks) - there is almost always a spike in stock price to reflect the "lean" approach.
