Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel products merge with AMD, foundry as seperate company

Sell all intel products to AMD and Intel foundry can merge with global foundries.

US Govt strongly push (mandate) companies put 5 to 10% of their product production to Intel foundry, renamed to ASMC (America Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation).

If they did it would be called “AMD”.

No way Lisa drops AMD name.

Pat basically declared war on ARM (Qualcomm and Nvidia... okay and Ampere), and to a lesser extent RISC-V, when he announced an x86 partnership with AMD... Seriously what a stưpid thing to announce? And now he won't see the end of that partnership. It would be like if Biden declared war on Putin on his last day of office.

... Intel Foundry is a national priority...

Q: How many things that are essential to our national defense do we not make here?
A: Too many and microprocessors are just one.

Unless we were actually attempting to re-start manufacturing of many or most of those essential things on U.S. soil, saying that this particular one is a priority seems disingenuous if not self-serving BS.

AMD dumped their foundries to make Globalfoundries. Why would they want to take another new sh-t show on? One that they didn’t create?!

Cope more, you think after you all failed your AMD interviews they don't realise all that is left is chaff, they wouldn't $0.02 on the dollar to acquire products.

Do you know lots of former Intel employees are now working for Intel? AMD culture is becoming like Intel, which will ruin AMD sooner or later

AMD will not bother to save Intel. It is like getting wolf into the home.

Why go down with Intel? No one would do it. Only Intel thinks like a kid, waiting for rescue.

It is the efficiencies gains by merging at least PC and Datacenter products with AMD that make it sustainable.

x86 market share is shrinking and it is to the point where one of the two companies id going to lose money. Right now that is Intel but it could be AMD at some point if this goes on.

So these efforts are merged and maybe half of the redundancy is eliminated. The surviving entity can run x86 to the bitter end (which is coming regardless, because RISC is the future).

Or continue to pretend that a 40 year old architecture is gonna just keep on going. It's a choice.

OP here:

AMD will not taint their brand with Intel ... they just will quickly and efficiently sell the best product to the customers (Servers will be AMD, CPU mix of AMD and Prior Intel).

Reduce price competition and reduce redundant R&D costs.

AMD only survived was created by Intel to not be a monopoly and was given X86 license.

As for capitalist vs. socialist ... Intel is a public good at this point like a road or the military. Great for everyone but no one entity wants to pay it themselves and therefore a tax system to be administered by the Gov't to maximize overall wealth for the economy. America tech in semiconductor manufacturing is a national security issue so it's not a problem .... just like ALL governments subsidize their own semiconductor companies from the start.

It's ok for small companies to fail. It's ok for big companies to fail but for national tech giants that are irreplaceable, it must succeed. Besides, it's a much better ROI than subsidizing rich people with low interest rates so they can get even more wealthy ... at least semiconductor manufacturing is real wealth not paper or digital numbers on a screen to facilitate dr-gs and ho----s

Remember AMD gave the initial zen plans to the Chi-coms..

This is assuming if AMD wants to buy.
Lets be honest , there is too much overlap.

The reason why GlobalFoundries gave up high tech was because specialty tech was the only way of making money . Adding INTEL foundries to the mix will just mess everybody up.

  1. C has been discussing what to do if Intel fails or is further diminished.

x86 is a national security issue and merging the two x86 vendors is probably inevitable over time just due to the shrinking market share for what is a 40 year old architecture.

Likewise, Intel Foundry is a national priority and some sustainable state for it will be mandated if not found by the market. The socialists may be fine with just handing over endless billions to keep it afloat but this is a capitalist country, so they are out of power.
