Just a heads up to anyone that gets laid off they won’t send you a letter of recommendation they say it’s part of their internal Dell policies affectively making you worthless to every other company

Dell has never officially provided recommendation letters. Only verification of employment. Anyone can provide their personal recommendation though, so if you have a good relationship with your ex-boss(es), you could potentially get one. Sorry you are going through this.
And don't worry about Non Compete. It's WAR.
Yeah here is your reference.
"Joe was a great employee and tremendous asset to our team. He was so instrumental and productive we decided to cut Joe loose."
Wait… people still write those? The fu-k?
This is true. But you don’t need one. Most companies only confirm you worked there. Print out the reference letter that shows you’re employed there and your job title etc. you can self serve on Wday.
Use a colleague as a reference if needed. Sometimes, they don’t even ask for that.
Assuming if you don't ask for one, why would they? What would they even write?
¿¿¿
"Due unforeseen circumstances, we had to let go [this employee] based on a choice that [something potentially degrading] as a result of something that may or may not be performance related. But trust us, they're good people."
???
So low once the mighty Dell has fallen...
@jzb+1vNWUBva, i agree most companies don't give you a second look if you have dell as work experince. They say to apply for sdr roles instead when I have been selling for the last 5 years. They don't trust dells experince and want you to start over again at the beginning entry role level. Dell is just completely worthless
My manager had no problem giving me recommendations when asked. Not sure where this is coming from.
Makes sense from an employer, but surely you have friends that would offer a personal recommendation if you get that request.
I’ve worked from 1977 to 2024 and was never asked for or about a recommendation from my current or former employer. Most if not all of the companies I worked for would only confirm the dates of employment.
Most companies do not do that. They can shove it at that point.
This didn't affect me at all. Dell's policy is to not provide, but I did have my leadership promise to provide any kind of recommendation I needed "offline" to help my search.
LoL. Who gives a rats ar-e about a letter of recommendation from Dell.
No company holds dell in high regard.
References are stupid left over boomer ritual anyways. Should just be confirmation of dates of employment
