Thread regarding Alphabet Inc. (Google) layoffs

Employment review layoff prediction

In the event one does not achieve SI or higher, what is the typical action? Does it result in immediate layoff or one would be placed in improvement plan before a layoff?

It seems people posting here are not even employees. Perhaps people are posting to cause alarm.

The lowest performance rate is "unacceptable". That would likely lead to a performance improvement plan.

The second rare up is "needs improvement". This usually does not lead to a pip. I suspect many people get this one. I was told as long one can show improvement next year that is fine

So the answer is NO. If you get a rate lower than SI not necessarily you will be going to a PIP.

Not immediate for non-eng. If you get less than SI you would be put on improvement plan. But let's be real, anyone getting less than SI is marked for future layoffs, regardless of the official HR party line.

Wow - anyone who says anything is a troll?!? The question was whether it happened right away or whether you went on a performance improvement plan. The answer was it happens right away. The immediate was pretty clear in the context of the question.

Another troll who knows nothing about how Google operates!! It's not immediately , it takes an hour or two to propagate through the systems to kick you out of Google after your manager press enter with your less than si performance grade.
