This is going to be highly unpopular, but as a nurse that worked in hospice and home care, we needed some pharmacies to be open on holidays. Pain management for terminally ill or antibiotics for UTI’s, do not take the holidays off. Even when you try to preplan for weekends and holidays. Things come up and scripts need filled. Sending them to the ER is not a great option and increases the utilization on the insurance side.

So maybe some are open out of necessity. Pharmacies are still part of healthcare and believe me I have worked my share of holidays. It su-ks I know, but it’s part of working in healthcare.

Can I say, JUST WOW!!! Best news ever. I wonder what finally changed their minds, because this should've happened years ago. With everyone else closing on Christmas, CVS was one of the last holdouts still refusing to close. I guess public perception of corporate greed won out. And given the current financial status of the company, I'm assuming paying double-time was too much. Kinda funny that CVS was always so desperate to remain open on Christmas, that they'd pay double-time to do so.
