They must know the downside of absolutely no remote employees, especially for a tech company. And they must know that mandatory M-F, 9 hrs per day, will also drive out people, especially women and employees who have the skills and experience to more easily get another job. But each wave of RIFs takes $ off the books and makes the company look better financially (because the cost of having a smaller and less-experienced workforce takes longer to expose itself). Looking better financially also raises the stock price--it's doubled in the last 14 months. So I wonder if FB and the others are planning to retire/leave soon, and this is all a play to artificially raise the stock price so they can REALLY cash out. If so, I hope someone looks into it.

Agreed. They know, its what they want he would have fired more but they have to be wary of the regulations. So they do this, he doesn’t care about brain drain hasn’t since he got control.

pretty sure FB knows this and is using RTO to drive attrition. i don't think he cares enough about the longterm success of the organization to worry about brain drain.
