VMware was supposed to be Pat’s learning ground and ready him to take the helm of the big Intel empire. Dismal failure or just a pawn?

Fired executives have been saying that for decades. Not fooling anybody.
Pat did not retire.
A CEO of any measure of compentence would not retire "immediately" with no successor.
He was pushed, with vigor.
On the other hand, a BOD of any competence doesn't fire their CEO without someone else lined up.

Most overrated CEO that VMW ever had. The first time he spoke at Tech Summit and said that he wasn't going to let Elliott Management push us around, I leaned over and told my seat mate that the new CEO was an absolute liar; and that he would absolutely cow to Elliott Management at some point. Over the course of the next year, that is exactly what PG did.
Pat G paid off with VMware monty the SEC for the VMware accounting fraud cases. But lobbying and government fraud would need a presidential pardon.
9 billion in funding for Intel in the chips act. Someone has to answer where that money went. All the lobbying money spent. Who got the cuts. Pat G feeling nervous? He could a pardon now in the next 50 days.
