I’ve heard that those laid off will get 2 weeks pay for every year of service + a bonus.

Depending on country, people impacted will depart same week (US is one of those) with a substantial package.

While I understand that some impacted individuals will want to leave immediately, please pause and think things through. Given the time of year, financially it would be advisable to push your departure date into early calendar year 2025 if at all possible. From a tax standpoint nobody wants a lump sum severance payout in December as this will be combined with your regular 2024 earnings and likely push you into a higher tax bracket, effectively reducing the value of your severance package by a significant amount. Far better to spread this impact across 2 tax years if at all possible.
