Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Workload overload

Our manager keeps telling us to maintain a healthy work/life balance, yet more teammates keep leaving or getting laid off with no replacements in sight. How am I supposed to keep up with everything when I’m already juggling multiple roles? It’s getting out of hand. I don’t know if this is just our team or happening everywhere, but I’m honestly fed up. It feels like the more we’re told to balance things, the more they pile on. Enough is enough!

My manager says the same thing, and took off last week on monday - Wednesday. They still logged in to micromanage us 😅 great example of work life balance haha. Its so sad. I would pity them if they werent micromanaging me into the ground.

I was told the new dell is do more with less. Less resources, less people, less time to do all the spreadsheets and sell. I told my manager, revenue generating activity will come first and I will respond to emails asking for updates from non sales people, update stale deals and spreadsheets IF I have time. If they don't like it, they can wfr me next time. Idc.

The way of the Dell future. Senior leaders*t will cut up teams and expect the remaining members to handle it. They don’t see a problem at all. It’s a matter of time even for the members that sck up to leadership.

I’m feeling this exact same way. They let go of half my team and doubled up the account sets and workloads. They are also micro managing us a lot more than before. With weekly team meetings and bi weekly 1x1s which I don’t see any point of having a 1x1 when no one can address the real issues or if there is no room for career progression. It’s a sh*t show. I dread going to work and i never use to feel this way.

Its not just you. And your manager can say whatever they want and truly mean it, but the s**theads above them will push the mandate to get it done no matter the cost.

Whats going to happen will happen no matter if you overwork yourself or not so just do what you can and let it go. Its not your fault management overpromises. Fk that.

That's the goal. Do more with less.
Or known in other circles as penny wise pound foolish.

Start pushing back. If you are on a meeting, don't multi-task, focus on the meeting that they want you to attend. Force your manager to free up time for you to get stuff done. The most important tasks to them will rise to the top. Force them to prioritize your work, don't make it easy for them.

They are taking advantage of you. On your free time start looking for a new job outside of Dell.

same thing there. Need more people to do the work they would like us to do. When they finally do hire, if ever, the roles will be in India so it is a lose-lose either way.
