San Francisco-based credit giant Visa is nixing 192 jobs at 900 Metro Center Blvd. in Foster City and 10 at its Mission Rock office at 300 Toni Stone Crossing in S.F., according to new WARN filings with the state. The cuts are part of its mass layoff of 1,400 workers and contractors. The company's technology operations will bear the brunt of job cuts as it seeks to streamline operations. The restructuring will commence on Jan. 21.

Restructuring commenced late October with immediate effect for many employees. The criteria for picking redundant employees has no substance. They have started a new wave of layoffs yesterday.

They are laying off mainly middle management and global functions, regardless of their performance, and changing the teams reporting lines. They will walk away from this model eventually, as they did in the past, as the new org is so backwards and reminds the old association model. Customers hate all these changes and not to have any longer knowledgeable counterparts. But who needs customers when the company keeps growing for legacy? In the long term, they will regret these changes as clients are aggressively switching to other payments means.

Highlands Ranch office for tech at least is so backwards from the way it used to be even a few years ago. Everyone who has someone reporting to them in tech there should be ashamed and embarrassed for being complicit every single day. (ousted SVP Chris James, Wayne Boland, whoever KGP is, etc). Architects show up to meetings and don't know anything other than to question some poor soul giving a demo and to leave quickly because they're "busy". I know many of us joke constantly about the architects in particular for their lack of insight or skill. Must be nice to do nothing, provide nothing, and then strike down any growing talent that you could've cultivated, guys.

Rajat emrald: What do you mean quarterly from Jan 21? They will make cuts to those teams each quarter this year? I know the tech teams are being significantly reduced/ offshored, but am blurry on the timeline. thanks

It really su-ks to work for a credit giant like Visa and worry about your job every two weeks. I hated my experience at Visa, it is too political and nepotism at its highest. I can't say at other locations, but Highlands Ranch and VPs in tech are unbelievable, Architects that don't even have a one diagram for proposed solutions. Dev team can solution it, junior devs are in constant confusion, but they get to show up in Demos and wonder why we did it this way. Architects are really an overhead, but the Devs are getting cut that do the work.

Ryan will bring this company to the ground. Rajat and Manish will help him. :) Get out soon, it will be bloody he-l. Go look for jobs! (Highlands Ranch, Atlanta, Foster city, and Austin) will be impacted in 2025, quarterly from Jan 21st. Restructuring only with roles in Poland, South America and India. If you are a Project manager. RTE, every Program manager is at risk.

Do we know which teams are likely to get impacted by the Jan 21 layoffs?

Manish said in his town hall he wants people to have managers in their office. Lot of tech teams are spread out across offices. Do the math.

I believe there will be more purging. Purging will take place around month of February 2025.
