Change is inevitable when organizations merge, but you don't take tens of thousands of trained and certified customers and partners and kick them to the curb by making everything they have worked toward irrelevant. Ki-ling one the most valuable high-end certifications like VCDX is a really bad move. They are the people that help make the huge sales deals happen. They are the people that solve the complex technical customer issues. VMware has of course taken back their announcement that they are ki-ling the VCDX program saying that the email announcement was sent in error, but everyone knows it's because they got destroyed on socials and online over the announcement. How long before they ki-l or change the other certifications everyone has worked to earn? What is clear is that VMware got rid of all the good knowledgeable people that were running training and certification and now have the wrong people in charge. Fix this fast VMware or the partner community will abandon you... if they haven't already.

As customers continue to look for alternatives (which is pretty obvious), what is the worthiness value of these certifications? It wasn't a popular IT certificate back then. What is it now?

In many ways these certifications are a type of customer loyalty program, along with user groups etc. Seems these meaningful relationships mean nothing to HT and Co.

The only people who care about VCDX are a--holes. It is an elitist good old boy program where only kiss as--s get awarded the cert.
True! This isn’t some typical mass produced chip or hardware sale. An understanding of every technology domain - compute - storage - network- security- as well as an understanding of customer requirements against the available infrastructure and the customer’s future growth plans requires knowledgeable architects. Anyone that thinks otherwise is arrogant.

You sound pretty ignorant of how large deals are worked in the EU and ME. All large deals have senior technical people involved in them. The deals would not be possible without them.

The people that were running training and certification just before the Broadcom takeover a year or two ago were awesome. Met them at VMworld a couple of times. They should be brought back to fix the flippen place. That’s when everything was great.
I think the "sent in error" was worse than the original announcement. What a piece of s#t company. Hock not only doesn't care about anybody, he actively mocks and encourages being evil to everyone. It is really a shame, and especially when it gets rewarded in the market.
I was told Broadcom let go of 2/3rds of their course development and certification team over the last couple of months. There’s only a couple of low level, less skilled, low paid employees and contractors left struggling to keep everything working. That should tell you how little Broadcom thinks of its customers and partners.

Any industry certification becomes useless over time. Think Novell, Banyan, Cisco, VMWare…
It's simple. Hock doesn't want tens of thousands of trained and certified customers and partners. That's is his business strategy and it worked very well so far for more than 10 years.
The new lead of certification came out and send that the email stating the VCDX program had been discontinued was sent in error and the VCDX program will carry on as usual.
I guess they must have got a lot of stick for the original email.
There are no certifications and a sales force for selling wifi chips. Every customer has to go to the jungles in Malaysia and get them. Its just how monopolies work.
How is the US government OK with such monopolies run by the CCP? Because the US government is compromized.
Hopefully this VMware monopoly experiment will go through fine. Or else we can always look for another job with all the millions saved up.
