Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Have any of you had luck with finding another job?

I’ve been trying for months now, and nothing. All I found was not even worth considering.

Finding at a retail store job is one thing. Finding a cushy corporate gig is another. Those are extremely competitive. I would expect possibly a paycut to stay in my field. I am at the upper echelon with Staples already

Anyone and I mean ANYONE that is/ was a good employee at a retail store can get hired making at least as much or more at a larger volume store so you must simply have unreasonable expectations. Check the mirror for the problem.

Unfortunately, having Staples on your resume does not help. Many companies (Except Paycor, Paycom, ADP and any other high turnover sales jobs) will look at Staples employment as if you worked at a used car lot. It really comes down to your personal network. Me and other ex SBA Staples employees feel the same way, it was hard to land something that we want. But keep trying! Best of Luck!

Companies are using AI to screen candidates vs having human conversations. They are passing up good qualified people for the perfect candidate. There are just so many people looking for work it’s tough. That is a byproduct of woke democrats policy’s that have crippled America. I’m already seeing more opportunities since Trump was elected. America first will open up jobs for us all. Keep pushing.

I was let go a few years ago and decided to take control of my life and started my own small business.

It's not just the jab market. It has a lot to do with hiring practices. Companies no longer have 5 candidates to choose from. One job may bring in 100 applicants. Even my network hasn't been able to help me land a job. It might get you an interview but that's about all. Companies are also wanting cheap wages with unrealitstic expectations on experience for those wages. I was let go during last years November 2023 layoff. I took a PT job out of my field after 7 months of being unemployed. Still looking for work but it's atleast an income right now. Keep your head up.

Use your network is my best advice. The job market has been tough. You may have to take a step back to join a company that has longer term potential.
