It won't though. Octane will make a boatload of money and will be hailed as a hero. The money left on the table is invisible. He's not maximizing value, he picking low hanging fruit. Someone who cares could grow the business, not just harvest the easy pickings.
VCF Sales here. Made ~$800K last year and before the acquisition closed as customers rushed to purchase before Hock jacked everything up. Glorious time!

You have to survive long enough to get your RSUs. Very few survive long enough.
Was getting about 580k under vmware. With uncle hock, hit that in about 8 months. But the BS that surrounds the job was just not worth it, so I asked for the package. So, if you are in a good position where everything is rosy, yeah , stay and milk it. Otherwise, nothing is free, you are paying for it one in one form or another.
After all is taxed you’re down to $35k * 4 so you’re base salary must be dog low if that doubles your salary
