Remains to be seen whether all orgs are affected or not. The company line is that leaders must lead by example and be in the office five days a week. The word is leaders are to have nine hours a day in the office. Essentially this is director level pay grade and above. I would expect there will be communication on this soon.
No scare tactics, just more frankenserv tyranny. People need to go, that's it. If your manager, director or VP doesn't like you then your next on the list. Seen it happen quite a few times already. Good performance will not help you either. The rest is any excuse they find or just lie.
On this site, there is always a strong denial right before it is confirmed in official corporate communication.
This denial is the confirmation that the rumors are true.
But which rumors are they denying? The layoffs without severance, or the 5 days in the office.
5 Days in the office is rumored to be closer (announced next Monday), so I'm guessing that one.
Agreed, but frightened people are more easily manipulated.

I don’t know. It’s been pretty accurate to date. Of course the responsible response from leadership would be to refute any false or misleading information that is causing panic so let’s see
