Not only do we have a constant threat of massive layoffs looming over our heads, but we have stealth layoffs and firings all the time. RTO has been just another playground for making people leave or finding an easy excuse to kick them to the curb. I don’t know if it’s my personal impression, but I also find my job more stressful. More work, more pressure, more toxicity, more of everything that can make you leave on your own or find yourself in the position to be fired.

They tried this with the vaccine requirement too. Got rid of a couple hundred and paid no severance. Luckily, it looks like they will have to pay for that decision pretty soon.
Yes if you are not adding value then RTO can or will be a target. If you are a great performer they won’t touch you.

It's called quiet cutting and it's a real thing at Citi.
Too many people had a too long and too good time in the past 15y+ at Citi - time to go now - retire, do some good - stop clinging to the job - banking was never meant to be a retirement home like many Citi employees think it is.
