What we’ve been through just this year has been too much for anyone to handle. We’ve been disrespected, devalued and discarded left and right. Most teams are now fully dysfunctional and completely demoralized. Training our own replacements has just been the cherry on top. Look hard for anything else, any other decent job that can sustain you, because nobody deserves the treatment we have been getting from a company some of us spent years with.

“This company really knows how to drive you out of your mind and make you think—or even say—things you never thought you would.“
Yeah, things like “I enjoy training my replacements” or “I’ll keep working here as I’m due half my severance and twice the abuse.”
You know, things normal people say when losing their jobs.
“All to start, and without an Indian in sight.”

OMG, what company did you go to?! Lucky lol!
My time off with my new role outside of Nielsen?
- 19 annual holidays
- 3 weeks of vacation
- 1 week of personal
- 1/2 day Fridays (paid for full day)
- Random “You worked hard so head home 2 hours early tomorrow as you’ve earned it.”
- Paid for 2 days that I was tending to a family member without having to use any of my PTO. “You work hard, and I appreciate you so I covered it so you can save your time.” per my manager.
All to start, and without an Indian in sight.
Point being, there’s life after Nielsen, so get to gettin and go find it.
They don’t want you to state. If you leave in your own accord they don’t have to pay severance
So these heartless folks have no incentive to keep you happy
You are on the settlement, Wild Wild West, Plantation. If you accept the lifestyle of 'Corporate income protection' - you have to realize, by now... they are in control. The ' Big Pharma' .. or ANY corporation is to make money. The Have's and Have nots cycle of 'Free Enterprise' has not fundamentally changed since our 'Hunter Gatherer' days.
Simple: If you don't want to be a constant statistic of the 'Expand / Layoff' cycle; start your own business.
NO ONE is above market fluctuations. It's not Nielsen, it's free enterprise.
Please understand, this is not personal;
Have Fun. !
lol and now we get 3 personal days instead of 6. Do they even want people to WANT to stay anymore? I wish we knew the name of the person who suggested "hey lets cut down their personal time off", and that person gets they time off cut down.
“Nielsen is cutting across the board, and client-facing positions are no exception. From a …”
In other words, what you’re hearing is Nielsen is a soulless company now that hides all of their low pay / low talent employees in GCC’s with their slightly more talented money makers in other locations as to not mix with the undesirables.
This is a company that someone would want to work for? Not I, and probably not anyone else with actual talent and other options.
“ Can anyone speak to how client facing positions (aka sales) have been impacted?”
Nielsen is cutting across the board, and client-facing positions are no exception. From a technology standpoint, it’s a disaster—they’re moving 100% of the workforce to India, with no regard whatsoever. As for client-service roles, there’s slightly more consideration. While a tech position in Europe is essentially relocated to India, a client-service position might have a chance to remain local or be moved to the Warsaw hub. I mean, Warsaw is still better than India. That’s the situation. Keep in mind, many people left or have been fired before this change.
Now, when it comes to pure sales negotiators, they might still stay local, or at least as local as possible. They try to keep those roles outside of the hub or filled by experienced professionals, but the working conditions are degrading significantly. So, people in client-facing roles could very well be juniors hired from regional apps. That’s it.
Can anyone speak to how client facing positions (aka sales) have been impacted? I'm long gone but spent 2 decades in client facing positions, defending Nielsen to no end! Lol. A few mo's ago someone posted that they were even out sourcing those positions to places like Poland? That' can't be true. Like who the heck is negotiating client contracts these days with media companis and ad agencies?
Its the leadership that has failed over and over again.
Absolutely! My team was decimated slowly by a bad manager that was put in place by mandate and not by merit. I have seen great engineers leave and today, what was previously a great team to work with, has become a circus with a clown as our "leader".
Field Reps: look into getting your Comp TIA certification (https://store.comptia.org/ ) and look at working as a IT consultant for small businesses or even as Tech Support for other companies. Leverage that experience for your favor. That or remote closing sales is a great field to get into to if you’re more into the sales side of things.
The previous three comments are quite telling and 100% true. Wonder how leadership sleeps at night. They must have no conscience or any sense of humanity. And by definition, that is technically evil.
“ I've given 15 years as a Field Rep to this company. Right out of college with a degree that is useless these days.”
My suggestion then would be to put the pity party aside and start taking actionable steps towards a new path. None of it requires money, but instead requires focus and effort.
Being right out of college plus 15 years with Nielsen would suggest you’re somewhere near your late 30’s which is desirable to a lot of employers, so get going figuring out what you’re good at, and the transferable skills that another employer would want.
My issue with Field Reps while at Nielsen were most of them were complete mo--ns. Not all. but I’d say 90+ percent were the equivalent of a low grade cable guy (lowest of low) but thought they were gods gift to the tech world, so prove that you’re in the better half and stop with the self pity and get to work.

I'm sc--wed. I either have to go into sales, or work for a cable company. No idea how my "field rep" skills working on Nielsen's equipment would transfer. And don't say "just go back to college" or "get a certification in something". That requires money and time, and if I choose to re-invest in education, I would have to figure out how to make money while going to school at the same time. It's easier said than done.
Absolutely agree. Over the past ten years, every new initiative, product, or project has been a disaster. Millions wasted to achieve laughable results compared to the initial goals, but meanwhile, people were planting flags and patting themselves on the back with kudos. The result? Disaster after disaster. Systems decommissioned and replaced with worse solutions, while the old applications – the ones still keeping the business afloat – continue doing their job. And on top of that, now they’re cutting the very people who have been saving their as--s for over ten years, making things work despite the mess leadership kept creating. Well done, leadership.
So some of you are as toxic as Nielsen itself. Here is the problem, going back the last 15 years or more, Nielsen's leadership has failed to invest in its infrastructure and product. Instead, leadership choose to spend the profits on shareholders and paying interest on massive debt. In the meantime, antiquated processes continued with the same people pulling the levers. This leaves Nielsen where it is today. Grossly in the past with dated products and tech. Be careful how you view people who probably extended too much loyalty to Nielsen in their careers. And look at the state of Nielsen products and tech. Its the leadership that has failed over and over again.
“ I think it is true that Nielsen only had the worst of the worst even when it was considered a "big" company, these people are borderline stupid, seriously!”
I found this to be the case too. Nielsen as a whole was filled with dummies who had no real education, transferable job skills or common sense. Was incredibly difficult being around these people, and then the arrogance they exuded was even worse, as though they were highly educated tech geniuses working at Google or Meta. Not even close.
Listening to people internally say their jobs were to call and harass panelists on the use of their remote controls, or field technical leads who had no clue how to clear their browser history or log into a router was comical, yet widespread throughout the company.
Once I saw this I quickly made my exit, and left the dummies behind to be replaced by their equivalents … $6 hr Indians, with most still unable to find work. Can’t imagine why.
In retirement now after working for multiple large companies in my career and I had the same feeling all my career and I failed to find a company that loved me like my Mom. Doesn't exist, learn to thrive in any environment and you will be content.
Right, that's why you are still here posting in a layoff forum! LOL!
