Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Leaving was the right choice

I’m not trying to convince anyone to quit, but I want to share what happened when I left. My health was taking a serious hit from the stress and toxic environment at Optum. It got to the point where I had to choose a lower-paying role just to escape. Now, my health is better. I work normal hours, stress significantly less, and actually have supportive managers.

I was caught on 11/1 and I didn’t apply for anything there. After 18 years, my severance was pretty good so I took the money and left. In the last month, I’m much happier, healthier, and more active. I’m so happy with my decision to go.

We were acquired and my health is suffering from the stress. I am told that there will be metrics and short staffed already. They don't care if someone is doing something fraudulent. Only worried they will get sued. Disgusting!

Yes, the layoffs 11/1 were another brutal attack on great tenured employees. Then they told us all to "apply" for the new jobs that they were restructuring, what a joke. Just lip service as they moved people around from areas that weren't even experienced, must be a "friend" thing.

After nearly three decades with the company I was cut in a RIF. The BEST thing to happen to me. It’s toxic there and I agree your health improves dramatically when you get away.

Actively interviewing. Although it’s hard to do an interview when your experience is shaped around a company with such poor practices. Can’t wait to be free of this company.
