Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

US/Canada Presidents

So much time spent focussing on Wael but what about our North American presidents Gretchen and Susannah? I’ve been at this company for multiple decades and haven’t seen such poor leadership in quite some time. Canadian upstream has been decimated and we’ve sold off profitable asset after profitable asset. Morale is also at an all time low after multiple cuts to the employee value proposition up north including loss of 5 paid flex days, recent 20%+ reduction in bonus percentage and base salary increases of 1-2% that don’t even keep up with inflation all while recording record profits. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS COMPANY??!!!!

Susannah is obviously a D&I hire.

Susannah is way over her head in her position. Townhalls are filled with non related work talk.

wael is selling off asset money makers which we will never get back and using that for stock buybacks

this is so he can ride out 4-5 years with some slight bumps to make a payout quota then cash out and fu-k the rest of the companies future

ever other major is currently growing via M&A. only shell is shrinking its portfolio. also revenue is declining year over year for 5 years running. if you can’t tell shell is a sinking ship full of do nothing executives yet, then ask yourself a simple question

what are we actually going to do that sustainably delivers more permanent revenue with less emissions? answer is a big fat nothing. wael is full of it.

Gretchen doesn’t know that she doesn’t know.

Easy cuts on dollars and cents considerations.

I’m pretty sure Gretchen does nothing other than be a figurehead for Shell in the US. Her townhalls are pointless, and it couldn’t be more clear that she’s got zero knowledge of how any actual work gets done. Hey Shell - want to cut costs? Maybe start with your overpaid executives that do nothing but attempt to justify their own existence, like Gretchen!

North American presidents Gretchen has a history of closing the shop. Prior to joining Shell, she got rid off most of Maersk employees in the US and later company closed it’s corporate office in Houston. Shell has too many Bosses than Leaders…

The US country chair townhalls often feel like a large cheerleading event. Major decisions in Upstream are typically made by key individuals in London, The Hague, the EVP for Deepwater, and Wael. Similarly, significant downstream decisions are influenced by different key players. In other countries, country chairs tend to have a more significant and relevant role in decision-making if you ask me.

Pretty sure all those decisions to reduce your pay come from The Hague. Which raises the question--what does the president do in North America?

If you can’t see that Shell is a failing company I don’t know what to tell you
