Honestly, my biggest concern is that Jane won’t get a sizable bonus this year for a job well done. The article doesn’t mention her bonus so I’m quite worried for her.
Good for them, if they have to leverage to command such bonuses. Citi is doing what every corporation would do in this situation to survive - the fact that there is a big part of Citi's employees that could not do that means only that they are easily replaceable and have no choice in terms of leaving and getting higher pay. Simple supply and demand really.
