Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Somebody needs to expose companies posting fake job ads

They’re wasting time and messing with people’s hopes, and they should face at least some consequences for it. Too bad media doesn't care.

HR has to keep their job and HM will exploit converting or onboarding from their network while floating ghost jobs. Now a. days the JD is pretty generic so that if they want to fail you in the interview they will sc--w you in the areas which you have not worked on

There is nothing they/we can do about it. Instead of crying about it, ask why are they doing it. Why do you have a heat seeking missile to apply for these fake jobs?

It costs a lot to acquire new talent. To seed their database of talent they post fake jobs for many reasons. Who cares!

Instead of sending in cold applications, spend more time networking. Get referred. Those are real jobs.

Crying about fake jobs and or being ghosted is a reaction of a job seeker who needs to chang their strategy, get over it and move on. Is it hard? Yes. Does it su-k? Yes. Will you find a job? yes.

Now get back in there and find your perfect job!

Ghost jobs: why do 40% of companies advertise positions that don’t exist?

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2024/oct/30/ghost-jobs-why-do-40-of-companies-advertise-positions-that-dont-exist

40%! Yikes! I have an interview this week; now, I’m wondering if it’s a ghost job!

Are they doing anything illegal?

It's hard to say. The US Christians say the first amendment gives them the right to lie but the definition of fraud is both lying for financial or person gain (read: stealing.) Some kinds of fraud are punishable by decades in prison and $1M in fines, but I'm not sure any laws cover this kind of fraud.
