Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Are All Factories this Bad?

Curious if all US 3M factories are this bad or is 3M Clinton unique? Our turnover amongst both the hourly and salaried staff seems really high. On the hourly front, I’ve heard turnover has been 40% the past 2 years and is on track to be above 50% in 2024.

On the salaried front we’re on track to have ~25% turnover 2 years in a row. However the salaried turnover is highly concentrated within certain groups (primarily manufacturing/process engineers and a bit of controls engineers) likely due to the unrealistic demands put upon the engineers like weekend/night support, frequent off hour calls and a very weak leadership team. One department used to have 12 engineers and it’s down to 6. Another had 7 engineers and it had 3 leave this year.

It’s been very hard to make improvements to my processes with all of the operator turnover and the constant salaried turnover hangs a bit of a dark cloud over the plant.

Yet another org change to the ESC mfg operations plants. Keeps changing. When will they finish "optimising"?

The turnover rate at the DeKalb DC's is even worse. Management keeps introducing new rules so they can fire more people and make the ones that stay want to quit. Truly a horrible way to run a company
