Using up sick days to get work done works well

Weirdly, Im using up the 100+ sick days i have to do focused customer work. No being pulled into coffee chats or harrassed by people about nothing. No more BUSY WORK and time wasting team building days and lunches. Just being able to get work done. For customers, like we should be.

We were told that sales time would be protected but the opposite has happened

Would HR allow us to do this legit it would be a great way of getting the sick leave balance down.

In the EU we don't get "sick days". Instead if you're sick then you just call in sick and that's that. There is no limit on the amount of sick days but as we get proper holidays time off (vacation as you call it) people only rarely call in sick - personally I called in sick only three days in 5 years. It is also illegal for a company to call you after work hours or on weekends unless you agreed to it in your contract and get paid for such. #freedom

In Europe we do get a mandated amount of sick leave. If you are sick take the day off, if you're really sick, just provide a doctor's note and then the gvt pay your salary.

@1blv+1vExVzdY really depends on state and country. Some US states, like CA, force Dell to allow employees to carry over XX amount of sick/vacation leave yearly.

That said, who in their right mind, would take PBA just to "get work done"?

Working through vacation is now common. Leadership has crammed so many self defeating sales prevention activities you must sell on your time off.

Your comment = serious issues: high workloads, poor work-life balance, inadequate support, and a toxic culture.

Sick days accrue for all employees, check your leave balance. Take them strategically when you want to get work focused on. You can just focus on customer work and people leave you alone and stop trying to make you waste time.
