I had to turn to therapy after the toxic environment completely wrecked my career. I was once a high performer with a spotless record, but now I’m stuck under unprofessional, retaliatory leadership brought in by Pat in the last three years and whatever I do is not good enough. I'm done giving a damn. I'm just done.

Pat is kind of the problem, to the extent he got carried away with fab expansion, and seemingly mindless TD spending.
But he didn't do this alone. The Board, ELT and MCM are complicit.
As an example of their hubris, they tried to keep Foundry and ProdCo together, now finally having enough potential customers walk away that they are separating them, but still not realizing that Foundry has to be spun off to be successful.
They likely have tried to avoid this because of how much Foundry relies on ProdCo profits to continue to operate. A spinoff would have to rationalize spending, as they would not be able to get an endless supply of billions every year to keep mindlessly expanding capacity.
PG and the board bet the company on the ability to use TSMC latest nodes to produce enough profits, and failed to see that AI would crater datacenter CPU spending, at least in the short term.
All explainable mistakes but taken together they point to upper management that has failed to execute strategy or tactics, and should be replaced.
pat's not the problem, but I agree many of the long timers and middle management especially from abroad with dog degrees are real pieces of to work with. Astoundingly unprofessional environment to work in.
O.K. this post makes it clear the place is unraveling... Yes the Op post is unhinged but this is what happens when stress exceeds the threshold of tolerance... people stop acting in their own best interests like this poor fellow.
"Yes, the retaliatory culture was there before Pat. I watched it happen to co-workers. Employees are important, etc. is a game. At Intel we're all nothing more than a number. Even managers that I thought were the best managers turned out to be conniving and full of s**t. It's all about how well you speak the language, play the game and when something happens to you to figure out how to navigate it. It's too bad we can't count on a workplace that actually cares about its employees. There are a few executives in the past that had bad health outcomes because of the stress. Is it worth it?"
it behaves like a government
incompetent a-s kissers are promoted
no merit based pay
watch your back
nothing ever moves
it eventually goes bankrupt

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees
I sp-t out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?
You work there based on your own free will. If the situation is no good, exercise your own free will and bounce. Everybody has problems and hearing yours when you don't take any responsibility is annoying.
"Intel and Pat destroyed me"
Now who's fault is that?
@1moy I'm looking for me
You're looking for you
We're looking at each other
And we don't know what to do -
They call me the seeker
I been searchin' low and high
I won't get to get what I'm after
Till the day I die
From the responses to the post, we can tell whether there are changes to the culture and whether the situation is changing for the better. The history will keep repeating itself until most of the responses are reversed.
They say there are two types of people, those who complain and those who take action. Of course it's not that simple. Intel has a lot to answer for. But you are not powerless. I'd encourage you to stop staring so much at the problem (Intel) and start diverting your energy into solutions for yourself and your career.
Life is suffering, but it is not as much suffering as you'll experience there. Move on.
Something doesn't add up here... I am gonna bet the new manager has different opinion of your performance then you do. Anyway, man up and deal with it, Everyone's career ebbs and flows based on circumstances. You are no different.
I propose you let it all go and move on.
There are other industries.
High tech is in trouble right now.
INTEL is in a trouble of it's own which will only end when they give up foundry.
@phi+1vDwKa6a, You're not wrong.
Sadly, this line is what most of Intel has become. You might be able to find pockets that are not toxic, but good luck. With the recent CPM and reorgs it's going to be everyone out for themselves more than ever before. Trust no one!

To survive, you must stop caring so much about your work if you want to stay at Intel. Become numb and push down your feelings while focusing on what matters in your personal life, let the politics go, let the quality go, let the thought of advancement go, and stop waiting for leadership to change or make data-driven decisions. They will not ever. They know what it takes to get ahead and it's not doing quality work or being a high performer. They are unethical POS and don't let them get you down. Look for a new role and focus on your personal life. You will find no happiness or sense of pride at Intel any longer - go find it somewhere else.
Numerous posts on this site over the years have repeatedly pointed out what you are only now choosing to see. The top performers around you left long ago, leaving you in a heavily concentrated cesspool of self-serving non-performing toxic individuals who only know how to steal work from others and make PowerPoint. You don't need therapy, you need to get off your as- and do something about it. "You own your career", and it's up to you to make yourself happy.
There were a few posts about how the layoffs would destroy the lives of many families and everyone was very dismissive of them. How children in these families complete life trajectory has been altered. Something like they were going to be doctors but now will be junky prost---tes, selling their bodies in the parking lots. It was grim stuff. And now just a few months removed it appears some of that prophecy is starting to come true or be realized.
OP, I woke up in a Soho doorway
A policeman knew my name
He said, "You can go sleep at home tonight
If you can get up and walk away"
I staggered back to the underground
And the breeze blew back my hair
I remember throwin' punches around
And preachin' from my chair
If you find something outside, move. It will make your life healthier. A healthier life is better in the long run. I have gone through ACT during BK's tenure and I am much happier and healthier. Looking at the posts, I see how much it has gone down. A company that doesn't treat the employees well and where coworkers are hostile will not survive in the long run.
You will find your path to a better place elsewhere. Good luck
Retaliatory leadership was there before Pat. I'm sure if you could stay at Intel long enough, you could see your enemies get laid off too for some sweet revenge.
OP, they can only destroy you if you let them. Fundamentally nothing has changed with you who is still working here or anyone who was let go. The rules of the game changed and now you have to decide to stay and play by the new rules or leave. The tech job market su-ks right now and probably won't change any time soon. For the near term you will have to stay and play their game. Accept this and move forward or it will destroy you. Re-calibrate your career and long term goals and figure out your path to get there. Just assume Intel won't help you to get there.
Same situation here. The bad re-org and bad manager brought in from outside. I left Intel and now I am much happier.
Leave the toxic company.
