Still looking for another job

And still no decent offers. Five months now. It’s beyond demoralizing.

"The IT job market right now is in a world of hurt. Far too many applicants for too few jobs. And if you're white, male, and over 50, you will struggle for getting even callbacks. If you're a woman, someone of color, or under 50, you will have a very distinct advantage in the job market."

If you are choosing people like this, I can't imagine what the company turns out to be.
(Hmm, Intel is suddenly coming to mind.)
It will rot from within with managers who don't know squat coupled with employees who can't do squat. It will have some sort of 0-Integrity culture while paying some individuals much more than they are worth. Those companies won't last.

Those companies can only survive if they are a monopoly or they are bankrolled by a large "investor" who appears to have unlimited funding but really is just connected probably to our never ending printing Fed.

Not enough info to know your job search strategy, but by your own account, it's not working. Have you been getting ANY offers? Maybe you need to lower expectations, find a new home, and climb the ladder again. If you're not getting offers, ask yourself this: Why would a company hire you over a fresh hungry college graduate with the latest education? Make yourself a better value proposition. How's your networking skills? Have you called up influential friends in other companies? Have you asked them out for in-person coffee/lunch to catch up and chit-chat about potential opportunities? Take your resume when you go, but don't be pushy. Remember your people skills. Not sure who to call? Dig through your LinkedIn and reconnect with old friends. Are you currently building your technical skills? Taking a few college classes to learn new things? What is your degree? How about pursuing the next degree up (BS->MS, etc)? Maybe consider a new career path. Most adults experience 5-7 career paths in their lifetime. Maybe it's time for you to leave your comfort zone and try something new.

Anyone planning to quit or has been laid off should realistically plan for at least 12 months of unemployment in the current state of the job market. That's the bitter truth...

I left Intel a while ago at age 51 and was able to get the training to get a good-paying job. It requires getting retooled ( get a second degree while you are working) and build your network of friends at other companies. I have seen people get MSCS, Law Degrees, Financial Planning and transition their jobs successfully.....ask your interviewer why they did not offer, some will tell you. Also, lower your expectations and come in a few levels below at a lower salary. You can work your way up .. once you're in.

Same here. No luck since September. I've done some job searches in the past 5-7 years, and I can tell you that the keywords I see in the job posts back then and now differ significantly. I believe we have to adjust our resumes and 'skills' (at least by reading some books, etc.) to be more competitive in the AI scanning resume market. Apart from that, the general situation su-ks now, there are too many applicants and companies are not very eager to hire. Prepare to wait post inauguration.

OP, it is really not you, it is just a perfect storm of events. The situation is not going to get better soon either. I wish you well.

Frankly i think the only way out is to take non-tech jobs.
The tech industry is practically imploding and it will get worse.
The pay won't be great but it is still a decent living.

Shoot for a lower position to get a face to face interview. Showcase your talent during interviewing process. I was in the same boat and performed the two steps I stated. After interview, I took a position 30k higher then what I was interviewing for. Just try it.

In the ASIC domain: intel's job scope is narrow, but we support multiple products. on the contrary outside intel, a typical job scope is broader due to less complex & relatively smaller chips. the best one can do is keep trying and learn new skills.

If you are technical don’t hire interview writer. That person will remove technical terms from your resume. Focus on learning more technical skills. Intel is notorious for asking employees to work on very specific tasks. So difficult to clear interviews.

I am doing once a year interviews for fun. I always get offers, but I want to have a life rather to work in FAANG. Get your skills in shape, redo CV, make connections with recruiters. It’s harder than year ago, but for good talents and skilled the doors are open.
