Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Town Hall: “Don’t just complain, be part of the solution”

What if the problem is with the CEO and a few levels down? How do you solution that?
I mean its their direction in which we have overly redundant systems\applications\reports etc…to begin with. They all refused to listen to feedback, just so that they could put a bullet point in their review that “they made a key decision” and years later here we are talking about getting rid of redundant systems.

So again I ask, if its the leaders that are part of the problem, how do you solution that?

I’m so glad the bulk of our vision was in pro-noun enforcement. It’s really paying off.

As long as the practice of dictatorship runs rampant among Citi managers, it will continue to remain at the bottom of the totem pole amongst banks. Mistreatment of employees by managers and their cronies, for the sake of self preservation and promotion, depriving employees of their recognition is the standard by which Citi operates. It is mired with substandard old systems but claims to be at the cutting edge of technology, only to be slammed by endless regulatory fines. The underlying cause : the practice of Citi managers running their teams like cartels. This culture runs deep at Citi.

Some of the Heads of the Teams' MDs have been spouting the Bull$hit of them having an open door policy and to bring complaints and concerns to them. Yeah, right. $hittybank just doesn't want their Dirty Laundry and problems aired out in a public forum on the Internet and thelayoff.com for all the World to see ! Good luck with that ! LMFAO!

Post ID: @OP+1vC2zFcI The next time there's a Town Hall meeting and one of the Executive "Managers" says something along the lines of "Don’t just complain, be part of the solution”, I wish someone would write in Slido, "I'll stop complaining and posting on www.thelayoff.com when Executive "Management" becomes part of the Solution, gives up and distributes their Bonuses to the employees who are getting Dog $hit Bonuses and Elephant $hit salary increases or None at all, NO Bonuses and/or NO salary increases because all the Money is going to the UNDESERVING, Incompetent GREEDY P!GS Executive "Management" !" .

“Let’s face it, we’re a technology company”- - -uh yeah, right. It hard to be an updated cutting edge tech company if the MDs don’t understand the tech to begin with.

“We want the latest and greatest….but cheaper….but try to make it operate like top dollar but not be top dollar…um…I know, lets goal you on all of that. There, now you’re motivated. Problem solved.”

The expectation is to report issues so they can be fixed and improve the outdated systems . The problem is that IT will only fix if a MD thinks it’s important enough to allocate money and resources, or if IT can fit it in their sacred release schedules. Regardless of the reason, it’s just putting another bandaid on the problem without making a difference on the real problem, getting rid of legacy systems and developing a centralized database.
MDs don’t understand the concept, they don’t have the background to see the big picture and solution. It’s been talked about for years but nothing ever gets done. Every other year it’s a new ‘solution’ to something, but gets replaced by something else after wasting time and money. There’s no commitment and gets brushed aside without any accountability. It happens over and over again. Insanity at its finest. Laughable for a company this size who is clearly way behind in technology in comparison to the competitors.

This ‘campaign’ is nothing more than continued propaganda to confuse and overwhelm employees. MDs through management level are all in on it. It’s a brainwashing effort to place blame on employees who are not responsible for decisions made by MDs. A never ending vicious circle well planned and executed by insane Jane, the most corrupt, irresponsible, and incompetent CEO in this industry. She can’t wait to get another round of millions of dollars at the expense of many displaced employees and their families. One day she will pay dearly for what she has selfishly done.

Retaliation is ruthless, planned, co- ordinated, executed by multiple managers ant various levels, includes the business line & HR, ignores the law & continues even after they force you out.

You are not supposed to notice that its the upper management’s direction is the reason why we are where we are now. You’re just to supposed to suffer the results of the bad decisions while the decision makers remain not only unscathed but also rewarded with even more money.

How many millions were spent to hire people to do this new campaign? Then spent on the graphics and media for the campaign?

The campaign will not solve the problem. It may temporarily assist with polishing the image, but it will not solve the problems that tarnished the image in the first place

Unify the Wealth business? Try starting with the basics like addressing the underlying technology—currently every line and sub-line uses something different. (Has no one in this firm heard of economies of scale?) In addition to cost efficiencies, consistent platforms aid in streamlining things like account opening. Also makes it easier to identify a problem and do find a solution —because the info is in the same place for everyone.

Is 100% correct, moaning about the leadership that put us into this situation to begin with while still getting stellar raises and bonus’s while the rest of us get let go, does no good. Instead of moaning, harness your frustration and start applying for other jobs outside of Citi and take your talent to another company.

You are part of the problem by moaning away. You don't get paid to run the business, you are paid to enact processes by people who run it.

The day you figure that put, the easier and happier your life will be.

OP makes a good point.
Also, they want you to come up with the solutions but that’s the thing. Most of the stuff that’s broken or does not work well, is out of our control.

Steve the secretary inputs data all day long using this inventory tool that is riddled with quirks and failures. He expresses his complaint, so now you goal him on fixing the inventory tool? He’s not a coder or developer, he just uses the tool you gave him but you want him to fix it. I guess you want him to take coding classes at his own expense and years later, fix the app? Is that what management wants?

The VOE should be the best opportunity for employees to voice their opinions. But then , managers and HR are sure to retaliate for negative comments in the VOE. So it’s a double edged sword. The problem is that management at Citi is run like a dictatorship, not like a democracy. So employees are never heard and Citi continues to sink further each year.
