Anyone else feel like Cengage is just pretending to the be in the business of publishing/ed tech at this point? What I mean is that the business of producing educational materials is just a front or a facade to conceal the real focus of the operation--which seems to be to inflate the value of the company as much as possible to help the private equity investors maximize their profits. They don't care about education, publishing, students, educators, etc. they only care about money and mining this company for every penny they can get out of it. It feels so gross and empty to work here. I wish it was easier to find alternative employment at the moment, hopefully the market will improve so those of us who feel soulless and discontented doing work that supports this operation can leave voluntarily. And let the sharks tear what remains of the carcass apart for scraps.

Not be a downer, but I can assure you "Cengage" on your resume is not impressive nor attention getting and not associated with cutting-edge tech. As you may already know, awareness of the Cengage brand is not widespread...not even in EdTech. There is no wow factor.
When you interview outside, be prepared to talk about your skills with behavioral examples, preferably on large-scale projects.
You just now figured this out?
"to inflate the value of the company as much as possible to help the private equity investors maximize their profits"
Well sure, that is the nature of private equity. It is a bloody business and the only beneficiaries are the investors - if they're lucky.
Hopefully, you're right about the resume part IPS.
Greetings,
While I feel your concern, you can take solace in the fact that working for a company that rides on the bleeding edge of EdTech, which Cengage defined and continues to evolve, will provide you with a resume that will impress any prospective employer.
