Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Boeing has an office and factory space overcapacity problem due to owning or leasing too many facilities

Boeing leaders could save a boat load of money if they ordered a companywide consolidation effort that decrees that Engineering, Manufacturing and Production related work that supports every single Boeing Commerical, Military and Space program can only be performed at Boeing facilities located in Washington State.
The major money Boeing saves would come from closing and selling-off, or in worst case abandoning all Boeing facilities including offices and factories located in States outside of Washington state. Move Boeing Headquarters back to Seattle too. That was a boneheaded mistake moving out of Seattle.

When Boeing sold their space station building in Huntington Beach CA it was a sad day. The space station folks moved to Houston, and now Amazon has a distribution center where the SS building was razed. Nearly 30 years of history up in smoke.

If something like that could happen. Based on Union contract wording and the wording of a restructuring, could make any union contract void. Also can be based on the amount of union employees that are retained.

Boeing has already sold the headquarters building near Renton, the Bellevue campus, and some buildings around Duwamish. Not sure really what is left except when they move the 737 factory to Everett and sell the Renton plant.
