I think 10% layoff is too low IMO... With many programs canceled and dates to be moved or moved... I see 10% too low....if a team has 10 members and you remove 1is not a big deal

The blunt reality is that there needs to be a strong strategy change, at each division level, cost-benefit analysis and robust budget management. There are plenty of lessons learned from how we got to this point that can be understood to prevent them from happening again. The sheer mediocrity rampant everywhere is astonishing, this company needs a transformation so drastic but it will take years to achieve.
The quality culture needs drastic change, focus on safety-quality-output. That should be the priorities in that order, quality is priceless. Find the way to make the products repeatable with acceptable results, yes it will take time but this is how we make the step change needed in the right direction.
Hoping that big changes occur in the very near future otherwise it will be continued slow decay of a once great company…
Boeing doesn’t have the large pool of skilled mechanics engineers to hire from.
I don’t think they’re gonna layoff as often because it’s too hard for finding anyone to hire to replace them.
There was a list of the highest unemployed, college majors, and aerospace engineering was number four.
That shouldn’t be a surprise anyone who actually works in the industry as the industries been shrinking and company constantly lays off.
Yeah, they can lay off a bunch of people, but good luck finding anybody with the training or experience to do the job to replace them when you want to rehire.
The world is changing and careers in Aerospace are not very desirable anymore. You can work any blue-collar job make approximately the same as you do as a mechanic and live wherever you want without constantly wondering if there’s gonna be a layoff. Same as being a civil engineer no incentive to become engineer or aircraft mechanic. With the Internet and this day and age, most young people no this.
Ditching the DEI add-on hires would save 25% easily. Canceling the "Chief of Staff" political commissar positions would also help. As Elon Musk showed at Twitter, canceling 80% of the staff can have a significant improvement on quality and quantity of deliverables. Boeing has more than enough useless overhead to cancel at least 50% of the staff and do a far better job.
I concur, I think more is coming especially if the strike continues on. BCA is losing money everyday with only charleston ticketing airplanes. It's only logical to declare a surplus when airplanes are not being built. Additionally we have a new CEO to shake things up.
25% for sure.
Slow production, get it back on track, speed up. Not difficult...
I don't know why you guys down vote me. I'm one of the few rational guys here...
I would layoff 15-25%... Merge teams.. And then see what team still screaming about workload.. Then rehire a few..
But need to get rid of low performers... Maybe 10%, then re-grade them, then another 10%.
Come on guys.. You know co. is in trouble.... Need to cure it.
Cannot form a coherent sentence.
Cannot form a complete thought.
The consequence of such deficiencies is the inability to form a rational opinion.
i.e. ludicrously delusional ramblings of the incoherent, usually associated with
