Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Is there any extra help for laid-off employees?

This might sound like a silly question, but is there anything beyond the typical severance package for employees who’ve been laid off? I'd mainly like to know if they offer job counseling or any retraining programs to help people transition. Or is that too much to ask for?

LHH is a joke. Feel good calls/seminars.
My resume was reviewed and picked apart & tailored to LinkedIn algorithms. I actually paid a service last year to do it and I'm going to stick with it.
I'm just not feeling it right now to do any of this...

They have job placement services. I heard if you don’t take one of their offers they will cancel your severance

LHH was the worst

LHH is helpful if you get the right coach. Mine was awesome. They spruced up my resume and wonderful support groups you could attend. The groups also help you build your connections.

I had better luck finding a position on Indeed. LinkedIn is over saturated with people looking for jobs and quite frankly can be depressing.

I agree with someone below, know your strengths and field of expertise. If you focus in those areas you will find something more quickly. WFH, is hit or miss. I would focus in your geography as well. Many are going hybrid.

Best of luck! And this too shall pass. Once the hurt mends you will realize how unhealthy CVS/Aetna really is.

Yes all of that is offered and should be in the materials that were received. There is an outplacement firm to support as well as some other resources

Health insurance and pharmacy are a pretty niche industry.
Make sure your resume is updated. List out all your accomplishments. We forget everything we have done.
Start looking for jobs at our competitors. If you know anyone at a competitor, that helps.

There are a lot of startups out there, look at salaries and not job titles in your search. Be willing to take a title cut for more money.

Aetna and CVS do not pay well. It will be culture shock once you start interviews and see salary ranges.

LHH was not much help and LinkedIn is a joke because all they tell you to do is try to manipulate the algorithm by using key words, even if they really don’t reflect your true skills and experience. I didn’t get a job using LHH or LinkedIn.

You may not get much LHH career help if you are in a lower level job. Find out what your local unemployment office/department of labor offers for free career workshops/training. Also, take advantage of the employee assistance program to see how they can help support your during your transition.

Take charge of your own job search and network with people locally to ask for help finding jobs you are interested in and qualified for. Good luck and advocate for yourself. The company won’t do anything for you.

Yeah CVS sends you a link to their "resources". It gives tips on how to write a resume, how to job search pretty basic stuff that you get from google. Once you have a resume you can post it this job search that post jobs that's no where near our industry. Pretty funny that lol. There's tips on how to interview too and a couple of personality tests. Basically just really stupid sh-t.

No offense, but, if you actually find value in these services then you probably deserved to be eliminated.

LHH has been assigned to support with career services... resume write up etc. But did not hear good reviews from folks who used the service last year.
