Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Insurance change and Cobra

My last day is Nov 15. I am on HDHP insurance for 2024 but may wanna switch to low deductible plan for 2025 since Intel will pay for healthcare for one year through Cobra. Is this something we can do? Enrollment deadline is here and need to understand to make the change.

Change it to the insurance you want. As long as it say "your part $0" you're good.

I took VSP last year (last day 12/31/23) and while I did initially get conflicting advice from HR and benefits ultimately I was able to upgrade my plan from HDHP which I had all 2023 year to low deductible for all of 2024. Good luck!

Yes I just did that! I was on HDHP in 2024. I selected a PCP plan for 2025 and I double checked that the monthly premiums will be borne by Intel. It make sense to “upgrade” the insurance and make Intel pay … might as well

You can’t change it. Your COBRA coverage will be the same you had for 2024.

That’s a great idea to make Intel pay more, but Cobra continues same coverage at termination. This idea would have worked I think if last day was sometime in 2025

I believe your current health benefits continue till end of Nov. Then Cobra kicks in with same health coverage for 12 months till end of Nov. 2025. Open enrollment is for benefits starting Jan. 1st 2025 so not sure you can change
