CNN News headline: The hottest trend in executive leadership: Bring back the White Guy

CNN News last paragraph: "The business case is clear. But the reversion to the mean of a White male CEO also is happening at the same time that many firms are backing off their early-2020s commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion, or DEI. All of that coincides with the Supreme Court’s decision last year to end affirmative action in colleges.

In other words, giant US institutions have created a permission structure for businesses to revert to muscle memory. There may have been a moment, circa 2020-2022, when replacing a person of color or a woman with a White man may have sparked a public relations debacle.

Clearly, major companies don’t seem to be sweating the optics anymore."

I believe in DEI. It's what I believe brings bright people forth to move us foward. And in my mind that's a win win for all.

However, I have noticed the last several years a trend that's disheartening in the business world. This article only articulates my observations.

I also believe the bright, intelligent, skilled, and experienced should be promoted on their mertits and not on their s-x, pigmentation, religion, ancestry, financial income, social economics, inheritance, influence, and who's their friends.

DEI is the antithesis of the OP's statement "I also believe the bright, intelligent, skilled, and experienced should be promoted on their mertits and not on their s-x, pigmentation, religion, ancestry, financial income, social economics, inheritance, influence, and who's their friends."

Look around at the DDAT teams, probably 70% are Indians! Not too diversified! Don't get me wrong, they are great to work with and if we can't find the talent in American then we should hire based on merit. In this case, along with the skillsets needed, that happens to be Indians.

for the 100th time, why don't you mo--ns go some place where you have an audience for your obsessive race-baiting? What happened, did 4chan suddenly get boring??

DEI over merit is the most absurd thing ever brought forward in modern times. Imagine simply checking a race or s-x box and assuming this is the most paramount reason to hold job. Instantly rooted in failure.

I am the OP, and a woman. I've been through three CEOs and now four. I honestly can't determine one way or the other who's been a good CEO. They all have had layoffs and dropped the ball. I don't expect anything other than the normal corporate B's from the new CEO. Still waiting for this great hero strategy.

Crass comment ..but the person has a point.
We need something beyond this two party system. Its pitting us against each other when it should be the people against the government.

I never agree with CNN, however skill set should outweigh all other attributes. I’m a woman and think KL was a nightmare. Completely unqualified for the position.

The article shows several major companies replacing CEOs with white guys and guess what. CVS is at the top of the list.

So, I wonder how many executive women and people of color will be laid-off from now to March
