Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Even after quitting, harassment continues

While working at Qcom, a married man in a management position attempted to use others, including HR, to initiate a more personal relationship with me. I was informally encouraged to reach out to him and share details about my personal life. He often boasted about his capable wife and displayed family photos. Eventually, with HR's involvement, he framed the narrative to suggest that I was the one seeking a personal relationship.

Feeling uncomfortable and wanting to distance myself from both him and Qcom, I quit. Despite my departure, he continued to use staffing agencies and former colleagues to gather information about me. This behavior has persisted for over five years.

Is there any action I can take to address this situation?

That Akash guy is very bad; OP you should go to the cops and request a restraining order against him; do not let anyone destroy your life, especially some I-ndian guy.

Reminder to document everything as best as you can, always be prepared for the worst. Once there is some form of paper trail get a lawyer and get paid. Plenty of creeps in corporate management and plenty of money set aside for companies to settle. It's more common than you think.

OP, if I were you I would go to the police department and request a restraining order against that person;

Since you aren’t a Qualcomm employee anymore, Qualcomm ethics won’t care about your claim.

Do use try to set him up using unethical schemes which might appear to be retaliation or revenge. I suggest checking out this EEOC website: https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/guidance/fact-sheet-s-xual-harassment-discrimination. Then talk to an employment lawyer because the law might be on your side.

first of all, sorry that this happened to you. Sometimes it seems like all the big talk about women's rights is just candy floss. The advisors so far have assumed that you are in the USA. I would say restraining order is the way to go if you are in USA. But if not, you'll have to seek a solution within the law of land, wherever you are based.
What is more shameful is the HR tried to coerce you too.
Well, i am a bit aggressive in these matters and my advise will probably work in any country, any situation, against anyone. Although it is not a very 'decent' way. First of all, take a deep breath and have no fear. This is 2024 and it is not a woman's fault if she is stalked or coerced. Unless you take the fight to the enemy's camp, the enemy will enjoy doing whatever he has been doing.
step 1 : take the fight to his camp. Counter attack. May be call him, recorder on, ask him what he has been upto, tell him that you will reach out to his wife before reaching out to attorney.
step 2 : if step 1 is too bold, have some male buddy to 'softly' harass him. Blank calls, or just random calls in the night abusing him for no reason, send love letters by post to his apartment, or a bouquet of red roses with romantic greeting cards.... you see.. get his wife to nag him. He harassed you. You harass him ten times over.
step 3 : have a male buddy make a fake woman's account. You are in tech so I don't need to tell you how. There is AI, paid followers, fake photos etc etc etc. Let a beautiful woman reach out to him, make friends with him, have long phone calls with him during office hours, record everything. Then send anonymous packet to QC HR saying that Mr. Casanova is romancing during office hours on office money. Send the recordings also to his wife. After you have given him a solid counter punch, call him using the same fake account, apologize for sending the recording to HR etc, arrange a meeting at a cafe. When he does come over, sp-t on his face in front of everyone and leave.

Look, call it my background in the services, but I believe if he has harassed you for five years, you should stop at nothing less than destroying his career + family life. That plus law and he will be cured forever.

Anything you do, do it fast. It has already been 5 years and the supporting documents can be erased.

go to ethics point site and submit your concern. They take it seriously. It's third party and above HR.

Once the restraining order has been setup by the police department, this individual will have this on his record and most likely will lose his employment at Q , and will have tough time to get a job anywhere else; it’s really worth your time to go to the police and defend your rights.

There is a phone number available in the police department to call and to ask for a restraining order against this person. This is what police is for: to protect citizens rights. This should be very effective.
In addition, contacting an attorney is another solution, but could be costly

There is such a thing as a restraining order for online harassment. I don't know if what you describe qualifies (maybe it does, I'm not a lawyer). You have to do some research online (maybe womenslaw dot org), and most lawyers provide a free phone consultation, so look for a lawyer that specializes in this area, and contact them and ask their opinion. Sorry this happened to you. Good luck with this. If he's not contacting you directly then try not to let it affect your happiness. But if he follows you, that's stalking.
