Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Possible Layoffs Nov or Dec 2024

Hey folks! Looks like the rumour mill is churning again, and I've heard some whispers about possible layoffs coming in November or December 2024. It seems that after the engineering teams took a hit earlier this year, the focus might shift to the product side now.

I know how quickly rumours can spread, but I’m really curious if anyone else has heard anything or has insights to share. Would love to hear what you all think!

"The impact for North America in this current phase of the restructuring is significantly lower than in April. "

No kidding, there's not many people left in NA.

It doesn't. It says the company wide effort will conclude in Q1 2025... You can take from that a rolling series of impacts carried out thru March 31, 2025, or just another, single, big bang in Q1, similar to the one in Q1 2024. Either way, its a kick in the ba--s to the people living through this.

You can tell people to grow a pair, su-k it up, deal... but the truth is, we all deal with this type of scenario differently. Some with a sense of bravado, some with a sense of panic. But in the end, its the waiting, the lack of certainty what the future holds.

I say, fu-k the ba----ds. Start looking for something else now. Don't give them the power they seem to love having over you.

I mean... its fu--ing Christian Klein and Dominik Asam... a pair of barely competent schoolyard bullies. You all, each and every one of you, are better than them.

Fu-k them.

Unfortunately, the option to take endless PTSD-related leaves is only open to German employees.

I guess poor Lloyd will just get a new role as the President of whatever the latest bound to stagnant acquisition is... before withering away, dropping out of everyone's short term memories, only to pop up again on LinkedIn with a new job in leadership at ServiceNow.

This totally su-ks. Awesome timing and I’m tired of how Lloyd always mentions that it is a difficult time for “All of us”. NO, Lloyd, it’s a difficult time for the person being laid off! You know, the person with a mortgage and obligations that now has to scramble after SAP threw their life into chaos!

It’s just uncomfortable for passive-aggressive “Yes men”, like Lloyd! Wow! The dingbat will probably have to take a few months off for his PTSD after tomorrow! The entire process has been so insulting in every possible way. Empathy, there is none! I’d use much saltier language but this site won’t let me!

Wow... just wow wow wow wow.

Monday... we had a GREAT! 3rd quarter... thanks to everyone for their incredible efforts...
Tuesday... we'd like to further thank you all for your incredible efforts, by canning some people, further crippling your teams, and doing our best to decimate whatever might be left of your morale...

Oh.. and by the way... don't forget to let organizers know now if you plan on attending this year's gala holiday party!

A--holes. Complete and total a--holes.

The layoffs aka transformation will take over 1 year. With the lack of transparency and communication, it’s no wonder that morale and trust are low.

The mail from Adams says the layoffs will continue for the next 6 months. First what a great time to be laying people off right around the Holidays, Second he says the impact to NA will be "significantly" less than past April - Really?

Unlike other companies who wrap such a layoff up in one day or one week, we will spend the next 6 months cutting and cutting. Q4 has historically been a challenge so it's clear that they are hedging the actual layoff number on what it will take to keep the investors and stock market happy (.... and of course fatten their own Bonus plans...)

Finance Board Area. under the ice cold Dominic Asam, in North America will be taking a good share of these layoffs. Just like the earlier layoffs, he will not miss the opportunity to contribute to these payroll savings, which translate to his Bonus plan.

SAP’s People First strategy. People are the first to go.

Great timing right after a good Q3.

SAP's people first strategy - People are the first to go. Let people decide not to buy SAP software.
Not sure what they are selling. I believe that they are doing some accounting scandals that needs to be investigated

For the person who commented that they got laid off with a group of 100 people, could they share the location of where these people were?

Here's the email:

Dear North America Colleagues,

We are reaching out today with an important regional-specific update regarding the ongoing organization restructuring at SAP we are implementing to ensure we are continually adapting and innovating in an increasingly competitive landscape.

In April, we shared the process of how we were notifying employees with impacted positions in the U.S. and Canada about the elimination of their roles and the support available to them in the process. And in the spirit of transparency, empathy, and respect, we want to detail them here again (below) as we prepare to notify employees today and tomorrow whose roles are impacted during this next phase of restructuring. Our approach remains the same: providing information as directly and carefully as possible to those whose positions are impacted.

Starting today, employees in roles impacted by the restructuring will:

  • receive an email outlining the details and support available to them, alongside a personal meeting invitation to discuss with a member of the management team and Human Resources that same day. Our intention is to proceed swiftly with these conversations within 2 days.
  • have a notice period where they remain employed while seeking alternative employment and are entitled to priority consideration from our Talent Discovery team for internal roles.
  • be eligible for a robust separation package, including support for health benefits, career coaching services, and EAP.

The impact for North America in this current phase of the restructuring is significantly lower than in April. We recognize the uncertainty many of you are feelinig and peldge to continue communicating as openly as possible until the company-wide restructuring program concludes in Q1 2025. Global updates will be shared through the Ongoing Evolution SharePoint page.

Please do not ask your manager if you are impacted as tehy cannot share any information with you now. We appreciate your patience as we work through the notification process over the next two days.

This is an emotionally taxing time for all of us. We encourage alle mployees to lean on one another as we navigate these changes together.

Signed,

Lloyd Addams
President, SAP North America

Megan Smith
Head of HR, SAP North America
