Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Layoffs should be the last option

It seems that layoffs are always Intel's first choice when there are other ways to cut costs that would not affect the entire workforce as much. How about reducing non-personnel costs or offering voluntary layoffs to everybody, for example? Why does it always have to be involuntary layoffs?

The layoffs are only to pave the way to start a new hiring spree of people who have the right gender pronouns and skin color.

This has been the pattern literally every time since 2015. 2024 will be no different.

They are not saving money, they are engineering demographics.

If Intel spent more time on competence and less time on demographics, it might become a viable company.

Want to save money? Fire HR.

Option 1 is to be open with the books and numbers.

That’s right. You and your families are totally sc--wed by failed execution at Intel and a failed economy. Keep voting these clowns into office. Things can only get better

Forget about Intel and move on. The Biden Economy has set the stage for you to flourish. Oh, that’s right. Most the growth is in government jobs. That should suite any of you do-nothings just fine

If you can't get products to the assembly line, there's no need to keep paying everybody to wait around.

The legacy of the company since the early 90s is out of control hiring and overspecialization. Headcount drifts higher and higher all the time unless there is a mandate to freeze or cut. And employees at Intel wear very specific hats. I worked a while in IT and everyone in the org knows how to do one thing. As a comparison, friends in the health care industry in IT had the skills of 5 or more workers at Intel. One guy does work related to data center, clients, networks, security, asset mgmt, for example.

Layoffs are required after bloat, and it's wiser to hate the bloat than the layoffs.

Layoff is the only tradition left unchanged in this company. It may be the last thing to go in this company in the coming days.

Intel has way too many employees and employees represent the largest recurring spending cost to the company. There is no quicker way to cut costs fast then reducing headcount.
