Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Corporate Age

Why doesn’t anyone talk about corporate age? Why is the entire leadership team including directors and managers all in their 40s and 50s when, in the same breath, they say “We’re going to hire younger talent with new ideas.” These managers, directors, and leadership team ultimately have final say, so what’s the point in hiring younger talent when we have the same decrepit old has-beens making the decisions? How can anyone take these people seriously when they talk about how great AI is but grew up using the typewriter? Isn’t it time for change?

No respect for DS during my years there. All talk. Little value. Made a mess of everything. Apparently it pays to have friends as the CEO to keep you cushioned.

Seriously? You think 40-50 year olds are the problem? Check again. Incompetence, inflated egos, nepotism, lack of decision-making, DEI, lack of executive experience, lack of customer focus, losing core competencies, leading with the bandwagon mentality, reorging every other week, too much unbalanced power, favoritism, shall I go on?

You've just insulted many competent, dedicated workers who were either just let go or still work there. Many of those have carried TD despite the poor leadership. Please don't generalize like that, ol' young one. One day you'll be middle aged as well.

Yeah, the part-time CTO turned out to be a false prophet. Never understood why he was so revered.

No CTO. Another given that there is no direction.
I guess it's better not having one than the previous CTO who only had meetings with the company to talk about his Burning Man experiences.

Good review, but TD needs products that customers need. We don’t anymore.

  1. You meet with customers... 2. You focus exclusively on solving their biggest data challenges... 3. You make your customers happy and make a lot of money at the same time... Making TD great again isn't rocket science. The fact the ELT doesn't have data warehouse experience isn't the problem, it's that they are pursuing their own agendas.

Look into their backgrounds and see the web....The Oracle points the way....

In this case, I don’t think age had anything to do with the ELT’s incompetence. First time roles at the C level for all of the ELT had an impact but majority was a lack of knowledge, relationships and experience in the data warehouse analytics and AI space at each of the functional level of the ELT. How can you recognize a great idea from any age contributor when you lack customer and industry requirements and current position of TD product. They were all sold a 2010 TD story and believed it.
